This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are developing a site and attempting to translate it from German to English using auto-translate. However, the form fields on the WooCommerce checkout page remain in English in the frontend, despite translating the strings. Solution: We have identified this as a known issue. We recommend applying the workaround from the following errata page: https://wpml.org/errata/l10n-php-performant-default-translated-strings-not-displaying-correctly/. A permanent fix is scheduled for the next WPML version.
Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am developing a site and trying to translated the whole site from german to english with auto translate. Now in the german version the form fields on the WooCommerce checkout page are in english. I added the WooCommerce plugin and did scan for strings and then translated the strings. but they are still english in frontend.
Symptoms:
The form fields on the checkout page are still in English on the frontend despite translating the strings.
Questions:
Why are the form fields on the WooCommerce checkout page still in English after translating the strings?
sorry for the wait, there was confusion in our system so we have converted the chat tot a ticket, you can open new chat if you wish to chat in real time with our supporter or we can continue in this current forum ticket.
I advise you to try the next steps:
Please make a backup before proceeding.
Check if the issue happens when only WPML plugins and WooCommerce activated, all other plugins disabled?
Change your theme to the WP default theme and check if the issue happens.
that is weird it should be fine if translated and with the default theme.
Please make a full backup of your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
If possible please provide access to the staging website, not production.
Please note, that I might need to do some debugging procedures like enable/disable plugins, switch themes, change the default language of the user account, and/or access your website database to debug the issue furtherly.
I would need to access both your site's wp-admin and FTP account, if possible.
I have enabled the private username and password fields in your next reply.
I suggest you create a new user, set it as an administrator and then add those credentials in the private fields mentioned.
