This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with losing categories when switching languages in your WPML setup,
Solution:
We have contacted the theme authors, and they have confirmed that the fix for this issue will be included in the next release of the Woodmart theme, version 8.4. Until then, we recommend manually applying the PHP fix we provided in our previous communications. This temporary solution should resolve the issue until the official update is available.

Please note that this solution might become irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

Hi,

Thank you for the video. It was very helpful and confirms that the language switcher itself is not the issue. The problem is that Woodmart uses AJAX to load additional data, and this data is not properly passed to the language switcher.

We provided Woodmart with information about this several years ago. Then also a workaround 3 months ago: https://wpml.org/de/forums/topic/sprachumschalter-und-ajax/

Woodmart informed us that the workaround was implemented starting with version 8.3.8. Since you are using version 8.3.9, we cannot fully verify whether the fix is correctly applied in your setup. As a temporary workaround, you can do the following:

1) Go to
hidden link

2) Then temporarily deactivate “AJAX Shop.”

I will inform our compatibility team so they can reach out to Woodmart authors.

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi, yes if I disable the ajax-function the switch between languages work.

BUT, there is not difference in the webshop product archive filter funcionality. Disabling Woodmart Ajax-Filter = Activating Woodmart Ajax-Filter, no difference, filters work in any case

Hi,

We contacted the theme authors, and they confirmed that the fix was not included in the current version. It has been moved to the next release, Woodmart 8.4.

In the meantime, you can manually apply the PHP linked in my previous message until the issue is officially resolved in Woodmart.

Best regards,
Marcel

Thank you for the update, as you can see the filters work also with ajax disabled, do not understand why.

It looks like the page is doing a regular refresh rather than loading via AJAX. The Woodmart authors should be able to provide more details on how this works or if a fallback behavior is involved.

Best regards,
Marcel
