This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: After an update I receive the message that the update is not complete. Solution: Try these steps: - Remove the main WPML plugin (WPML Multilingual CMS) - Do a first-time install of the main plugin: https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#first-install - Go to Dashboard -> Updates - Press the "Check Again" button - Update the other plugins Relevant Documentation: https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#first-install

please try these steps:
- Disable and Remove the main WPML plugin (WPML Multilingual CMS)
- Do a first-time install of the main plugin: https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#first-install
- Go to Dashboard -> Updates
- Press the "Check Again" button
- Update the other plugins

I have this same issue on a number of sites. The proposed solution to the bug ie. remove main plugin and reinstall solution - will I lose any data or customizations by doing this?

Hello @mikef-6

When you disable and remove WPML you will not lose any setting or translations as they are saved in the database.
Just make a full backup to be on the safe side.

I got the same problem (seems to be a very frequent problem - that's not good...), see image.

I hesitate to remove and install again because I fear that all our translation may gone... "Check again" didn't work. Therefore the best would be to update manually. But where do I find the plugins?

Hello Thomas,

disabling, removing and uploading new versions of WPML plugins will not delete the WPML settings or the translations because they are saved in the database.

❌ Before proceeding please make a full website backup just to be on the safe side.
