Hello everybody,

we’re using the WPML for making our homepage for two languages – German and English. But as it is activated, just after a while the complete layout of the page was destroyed and we didn’t know what to do until we just deactivated the plugin – then the page looked again like it should. The second time we tried to use WPML – the WP backend stopped working and every of its pages just showed the 500 error, as far as I remember.

We use the theme “xLander” for our homepage – it’s not been found in the list of WPML-compatible themes (different from some other themes used in previous projects, also with WPML). Looks like this plugin and this theme are not compatible to each other. May it be the reason? If yes, what can we do? If not, what else?

Maybe cause we only installed the main plugin (sitepress-multilingual-cms) and not the additional ones like String Translation, Translation Management etc.?

Or should we open the wp-config.php file and activate the debug mode?

Things like increasing the memory limit didn’t help.

Thanks in previous!

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

the WP backend stopped working and every of its pages just showed the 500 error
- please enable wp debug mode and let me know the error you are getting.
- steps are explained here : https://wpml.org/documentation/support/debugging-wpml/

We use the theme “xLander” for our homepage – it’s not been found in the list of WPML-compatible themes (different from some other themes used in previous projects, also with WPML). Looks like this plugin and this theme are not compatible to each other. May it be the reason? If yes, what can we do? If not, what else?
- I double checked the compatible list. yes, xLander is not there
- And, they do not mention anything about WPML compatibility in ThemeForest as well : hidden link
- If they followed the standard procedure of the WordPress about localization when they built the theme WPML should work just fine with the theme.
- in this case, you have to ask this with your theme support and please send them this: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/

Anyhow, to make sure about this issue we need to test this with the clean installation.
1. go to hidden link
2. install your theme
3. configure the WPML as you have in your site. On the last step (sitekey) just click next.
4. recreate the issue.
5. let us know the steps check this.

Regards,
Riffaz.
