I am trying to: get decent website performance

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: all pages

I expected to see: fast charging pages

Instead, I got: slow charging pages and enormous database dimensions

DATABASE
TOTAL SIZE ⇛ Size: 78.5MB | Tables: 38 | Records: 172,138
Total size and row counts are approximate values. The thresholds that trigger notices are 50MB OR 500,000 records total for the entire database. Larger databases take more time to process. On some budget hosts that have cpu/memory/timeout limits this may cause issues.

Hello, thank you for contacting WPML Support!
I will take care of your ticket.

I checked your website and the loading time on the frontend is quite fast.
I tested the site performance with the Pingdom Website Speed Test and the result confirmed my opinion.

I checked the speed of the backend and I can't see any slowness.

1. Did you solve the issue?

2. The biggest table in the database is wp_postmeta
- You can examine that table to see if there is some unused data

3. Can you confirm that the following settings are OFF or disabled:
- Adjust IDs for multilingual functionality (WPML > Languages)
- Track where strings appear on the site (WPML > String translation)

4. Please use tools like Pingdom (tools.pingdom.com), Google pagespeed insights or gtmetrix (hidden link) to find more factors that affect the speed of your site on the frontend.

Thank you for helping us pinpoint the issue. Feel free to add any other information you may have.

1. No, I did not solve the issue.

2. How can I find unused data in wp_postmeta?
What about the other tables?

4. I've used pingdom, google pagespeed and gtmetrix, there aren't other factors that affect the speed of my site, pages have also light weight. Page speed after installing WPML has become slower. I've also used Query Monitor plugin for tests on slow queries.

Hello,

to be able to help I need more data to understand the scale of the performance issue.

❌ Before proceeding please make a full website backup! ❌

1. Can you confirm that you are still experiencing performance issues with minimal set up (all plugins except WPML disabled and the theme set on a WordPress default such as Twenty Sixteen)?

2. Can you please make tests with WPML plugins enabled and disabled on any of these services: tools.pingdom.com, gtmetrix.com and google pagespeed insider, as they may help you to evaluate the real impact of WPML on your page speed.
- Can you please post the results of the tests?

3. Follow the steps shown in this article and post here the results.
https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-debug-performance-problems/

4. To clean up the wp_postmeta table you can follow one of the many tutorials found on the Internet

Thank you

1. I have very few plugins and I can't disable them, the website is live online for our hotel business:
Fusion Builder
Fusion Core
Really Simple SSL
WP Fastest Cache

2. page speed is slow compared with the light weight of the pages.
I can't disable WPML plugins from our live website.

3. I've already installed Query Monitor plugin, is it the same than Debug Objects plugin?

4. I'm very afraid to touch the database. wp_options and wpml tables are also very big. How to clean up them too?

Hello,

I hope you understand that we are not able to help without more information. At the moment we don't know the impact caused by WPML and its add-on or by the other plugins.
I'd like to mention that's normal for WPML to generate additional queries in order to get multilingual content.

Please also note that the Query Monitor plugin, while a good plugin when testing, does add a significant delay to the page loading time.

One solution could be to create a staging version of the site and do the required tests there.

Thank you

I've already sent wordpress and ftp access details, can you please duplicate the site and solve the issue?
Query monitor plugin is activated only when testing, normally is deactivated.

Hello,

at the moment I am not able to access the backend login page because there is an error there.

To check the issue I’d like to replicate your site locally.

I would need a site snapshot if possible.
We usually recommend the free Plugin “Duplicator” for this purpose.

If you already know how Duplicator works
(https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/),
please skip the following steps and just send me the archive file you downloaded.

★ Duplicator Instructions
hidden link
https://wpml.org/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/

If the file is too large (more than 200M), please use the Duplicator file filters to remove the cache, the wp-uploads directory, the media and the archive files.

Send me the archive file (you probably want to use Google Drive, DropBox, or similar services, as the snapshot file will be quite big)

Your next reply will be private, which means that only you and I will be able to see it and have access to it. You can paste the link to the file there. You can also share the credentials to your website. I will then download the file from the admin panel.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

Thank you

What's happened??? The site is down now!!!
Errore 500

Questo errore può essere causato da uno script CGI non funzionante o da un file .htaccess contenente degli errori.

Hello,

from what I can see, the front-end is still working correctly.

To understand what is causing the 500 error in the backend you can enable the WordPress debug mode or check the web server error log.

To enable the WordPress debug mode use the following steps:
- Open the wp-config.php file and search for this line:

define('WP_DEBUG', false);

- Change it to:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

Now the errors will be logged in the debug.log file inside /wp-content/ folder.

The wp-config.php file is inside your WordPress root folder.

Go to the admin page to record the error in the error log file.

Now, please post the content of wp-content/debug.log file here in the forum or on pastebin.com if it is too big.

Thank you

Hello,

I am able to access the hidden link address. Maybe it was a temporary issue?

You can enable the WordPress debug mode using an FTP client. It is not strictly needed to use the Hosting panel for that.

You can also open a ticket with the hosting support system about this.
