Hello,

We use WPML with different domain names per language. However, in the yoast SEO sitemap the homepage is shown twice, in every language. The rest of the pages are good.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

May I ask you this first?

Please configure WPML here (languages only) and set Yoast sitemap - let's start from there. I will set domains per language after this and test further. I installed all the plugins, I only need you to complete the initial WPML setup.

Regards,
Bruno Kos

Hi,

A question:

hidden link

Is this the same issue? It is not set as domains, but I see this inside also:

It appears as the first and the last item.

It looks like a compatibility issue that I will escalate further, but I'd like to hear about your confirmation first.

Regards,
Bruno Kos

it looks like it but is not quite the same:

You see here the /nl/ page. But /nl/ has his own sitemap.

Here you have all the pages, but here need only the NL pages.

On my sitemaps, I only have problems with the double homepage.

Hi,

Can you check this - is it correct?
hidden link
hidden link

It is now with a different domain per language setting, however I still don't see the issue happening (please note that in order to see this site in the second domain, you need to add the following entry into hosts file:
46.101.155.28 nl.wordpress-219772-960384.cloudwaysapps.com)

Can you tell me if you can try the following:
- only WPML plugins are activated, as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with other plugin
- theme is set to a WordPress default like Twenty Nineteen as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with your theme
- WPML - > Support -> Troubleshooting:
-- Clear the cache in WPML
-- Set language information

Also, clearing any caching if you have it. Because from what I understand, it is not possible to generate this site map manually - Yoast SEO does it automatically.

Hello Bruno,

Thank you for your answer. Yes, your sitemaps are correct now.

I did what you said, but my sitemaps still have double links. What did you change to make it work for you? Because at first it wasn't good for you either.

Hi,

The problem is that I haven't done anything specific - it simply set these domains. I did go to Yoast SEO options where you can either enable and disable sitemap and resaved. But I have no idea whether this generates new site map or not.

From what I read on their documentation pages, sitemaps are generated automatically as you update the content on the website. There are no means to affect the sitemaps in any way.

Hi,

I see - can we try something? What happens if you try the following:
https://wpml.org/plugin/google-xml-sitemaps/

And disable Yoast sitemap, how does it look then?

Bruno Kos
