As you can see my hosting company told me below and if to inactive of my WPML and then why should I pay for it, correct? If there are someone who can help me to set it up of the WPML? Cost?
Thanks a lot.
Ken

WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, WPML String Translation << this is the plugin causing the problem
If you ftp to your server, and go to xxxviziporn.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins, you will see i moved the plugin wpml-string-translation to wpml-string-translation.bak
This has disabled the bad plugin and the admin is now loading again

Anthony

Is there any documentation that you are following?

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

I will need more information about this - what is the plugin you think that WPML and String Translation has issues with?

WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, WPML String Translation << this is the plugin causing the problem

Because WPML and all its addons have no conflicts with WordPress that would cause fatal errors, so I will need more info on this so that we could also test on our Sandbox.

Bruno Kos

as you can read the message and I have no idea how and why and all I know just to ask hosting company to try to solve the problem and if the solution is only to simply inactive of it and why pay for it? I told the same question to the hosting company and they said if it is a paid program and it is better to let them know about it, Anthony told me.

Hi,

and if the solution is only to simply inactive of it and why pay for it?

I guess that it would not be a fair policy, because there are millions of plugins out there and if some of these have poor coding that affects WPML (or any other plugin for that matter), WPML would not be the one we should blame for it, right?

However, on your specific site, can you please check if this issue appears when:

- only WPML plugins are activated, as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with other plugin
- theme is set to a WordPress default like Twenty Nineteen as it will tell us if there is an interaction issue with your theme

So do this - activate WPML and its addons only and then start activating other plugins one at a time. This will give you an idea on which plugin is the incompatible one and this is the information I will need.

Bruno Kos

Hi,

In order to debug this issue further quickly, would you be willing to provide me with temporary WordPress admin username so I could investigate the issue directly? I have marked your next reply private so you can safely add this information.

Please make a full backup of your site before sharing this info!

You can use plugins such as UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) or ask your host to perform a site backup.

Hi,

Before we investigate this issue further, could you make sure your server conforms to our minimum requirements?
https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

I can see the following - WP Memory Limit: 40M.

Specifically, could you set WP Memory limit to at least 256MB and then let me know if this fixed your issue?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

If unsure on how to set this, you can consult your host/server admin to do this. After you increase this value, you can confirm it by checking on hidden link by finding the “Memory limit” value.

Currently it is 40M and 110 already in use. Let's start from there.

Bruno Kos

Hi,

It still isn't working - see this image. Can you add this:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
 define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

to wp-config.php file?

just before this line?

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */

So what get both:
- PHP debug working (in case we will need it)
- WordPress memory limit set to 256MB

I tried myself using FTP, but FTP refuses me the file upload for some reason, I get Critical file transfer error, so it may have something to do with file permissions.

Bruno Kos

Please check it out again now.
Ken
Below as you can read.

I have added those lines to the wp-config.php file, he should be able to overwrite it in ftp now as well
php memory limit is set to 256mb

Anthony

Hi,

I activated String Translation and this triggered this error:

[16-May-2019 13:54:22 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare icl_register_string() (previously declared in /home/sites/xxxviziporn.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/polylang/modules/wpml/wpml-legacy-api.php:251) in /home/sites/xxxviziporn.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpml-string-translation.bak/inc/functions.php on line 206

You can't have both active (String Translation and Polylang) because Polylang uses the same function names in their wpml-legacy-api.php file as our WPML plugin and since it loads first, String Translation fails because we don't wrap our functions into function_exists as it is expected that they have unique names and that no other plugin uses them (like wpml_get_language_information, etc). So it is either one or two.

Bruno Kos
