Sorry but can you ask someone on your team then? Because if the main .com is x-default, does it have to be a language as well?

I'm not sure you're understanding but please view the source of this website example here that uses WPML: view-source:hidden link

Hello there,

Because if the main .com is x-default, does it have to be a language as well?

The new x-default hreflang attribute value signals to the algorithms that this page doesn’t target any specific language or locale and is the default page when no other page is better suited. For example, it would be the page our algorithms try to show French-speaking searchers worldwide or English-speaking searchers on

So it doesn't need to have a language-specific content.

Regarding the site you listed here, I can see that they are using some custom code to achieve the functionality so I request the same for you too, also the x-default language seems to be same as the English US once but not duplicated, so just duplicate the pages in the x-default language and set is an independent translation.

Also, this needs a developer with high skills in SEO to configure this properly, so, I request you to choose contractors accordingly.

Kind Regards,

Hi Shekhar,

I wanted to let you know that we updated the .com homepage here: hidden link

Can you also review the page source: view-source:hidden link

You'll see that we assigned x-default for the language "en" which is the Global language per say but the Global language has the same content as the USA language.

Is this the right practice?

Hello there,

I can see the following

<link rel="alternate" href="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>" hreflang="x-default" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-ca" href="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>" />

Based on the example site provided, I think

<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>" />

Shouldn't be available there as it's already included in the x-default.

Let me know if this helps.
