This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.

Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I can not find the correct place to translate the post type name. I'm using the plugin CPT UI - https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/

Solution: If you create the post types in CPT UI, you need to translate its strings related to CPT UI.

So far, to translate these strings, please follow our guide https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/ , section “Translating strings in the wp_options table”.

I am trying to:
translate in english and french the first part of the yoast breadcrumb;

URL of (my) website where problem appears:
ITA
hidden link
ENG
hidden link
FRA
hidden link

I expected to see:
ENG breadcrumbs like - Home / Awnings / Penthouse awnings

Instead, I got:
First I got ENG breadcrumbs like Home / tende da sole / Penthouse awnings
Then I tried following this support thread
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/breadcumb-is-not-translating/#post-886678
After putting translations on, that breadcrumb part completely disappeared this way:
ENG - Home / Penthouse awnings

Notes: you see duplicated breadcrumbs for debug reasons, as I used both original function and a shortcode function of mine, both not working anyway.

Please see in attachment the String translation I made.

Note also that deactivating the translation in string administration - see attachment - fixes the breadcrumb part vanished, but let it still to be translated.

Thanks for your info.

It looks like you're translating the wrong string.
Please don't translate the string like your screenshot above, it's the slug of post type, NOT the post type name.

You should translate the string " tende da sole" (without dashes) in WPML -> String Translation.

In the case you don't find this tring correctly. Please let me know how you define this custom post type?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

As you suggested, I removed the slug string translation.
At the moment the breadcrumb part is back, with no translation.

Searching for 'tende da sole' in WPML -> String translation return as follows (please see attachment also):
only one string matching, coming from the theme X, which was translated yet.

I defined the custom post type via CPT UI plugin.

So far, to translate these strings, please follow our guide https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/ , section “Translating strings in the wp_options table”. See my attachment to know which key.

Does that help?
