Problem: The client was experiencing 404 errors on inner pages of their multilingual website after installing WPML. Additionally, the /wp-admin/ page was redirecting to the /en/ version and breaking, and there was a question about whether WooCommerce Multilingual should be installed.
Solution: 1) We recommended increasing the WordPress memory limit to at least 128MB, which is the minimum requirement for WPML and we confirmed that WooCommerce Multilingual was already installed. 2) We suggested the client to visit WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting page and perform several actions including clearing the cache in WPML, removing ghost entries, fixing collations, setting language information, and fixing post type assignments for translations. 3) If the issue persisted, to check the website in a minimal environment by deactivating all non-WPML related plugins and switching to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-one. 4) We provided a link to documentation that helped resolving the issue with .htaccess being overwritten: https://wpml.org/faq/why-is-htaccess-getting-overwritten-with-the-language-folder-on-my-wpml-website/
