Hi! Love your plugin.

I'm trying to switch the site's default language from Español to French, I've done all the steps recommended by your support but nothing happens. Could you please help me ASAP?

Thanks for contacting WPML Support. Sorry for the delay in responding as we are experiencing a high volume of tickets than usual.

I understood that you're having some difficulties while changing the site's default language. The primary steps to change the default language are mentioned below.

- Go to "WPML > Language > Site Languages"
- Add the Language first, that you want to make the site's default language by clicking on the "Add/Remove Language" button.
- After that, click on the "Change Default Language" button and select the language that you want to make the default language.
- Flush the permalink structure by Saving the permalinks from the Settings > Permalinks page.

If you're having issues even after following the steps, I kindly request you to share some screenshots or a video regarding the issue so that I can get a better understanding of the issue and help you to find a solution as soon as possible.

Hi There,

It will be better if you could share temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site so that I can investigate the issue closely. If possible, try to share access to a Staging site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Sometimes, we need to take a copy of the site if escalation is required. For this, I may need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Unfortunately, the access you've shared is not working. The Password for the username says incorrect. Would you please check and share the correct credentials in the next response?

Hello There,

Thanks for updating the password. It works.

In order to change the default language of the site, I accessed the "WPML > Languages" section and found that the French language has already been configured as the default language for the site. Please check this screenshot(hidden link) for a better understanding.

As French is already set as the default language of the site, do you still need assistance in this matter? Please let me know the update. I will be happy to assist you.

Hi Prosenjit, thank you.

I was aware of that, but the WordPress Dashboard language is still Spanish (not French) and in General Settings the site language seems to be still set in Spanish (please see the attachment).

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you due to the weekend.

Thanks for clarifying the issue. I would like to inform you that the language displayed on the WordPress Dashboard is based on the language setting of the user's profile. Upon checking, I noticed that your profile's language is currently set to "Espanol," which is why the dashboard is appearing in the Spanish language. Please check this screenshot(hidden link) for a better understanding.

Please follow the steps below to solve the issue. Kindly note that the names are mentioned in Spanish for a better understanding of the locations where changes need to be made:

- From your WordPress dashboard, Go to the "Usuarios > Perfil" section.
- Scroll down to the "Idioma" section
- From the dropdown beside "Idioma", select "Por defecto de sitio" or "Francais" and save the changes.

After that, the WordPress dashboard will start to appear in the French language.

Let me know the update. I will be happy to assist you if you need further assistance in this matter.
