Background of the issue:
I paid for Automate translation on my website hidden link. We decided to redesign the site and cloned it to staging.palmallorca.com. We deactivated WPML during the design phase.
Symptoms:
WPML kept asking us to pay more or create new translations.
Questions:
Should we reactivate WPML before moving the site back to the main live location?
Should we delete all translated pages and posts and redo the translation?
On the weekends, fewer supporters are working. So that is why there is a delay.
Sorry for that.
Regarding your questions:
Redesigning a website means that the structure of the content on the page and the structure of the page builder being used will change (maybe even the page builder will change to a different one). So, in that situation, yes, the translation will need to be redone, and they will need to be removed because the current translations retain the old design format and content structure format.
Also, when a website is migrated/copied to a different domain, WPML will detect that, and it will ask if this new site is the new one you will use or if it is just a copy (in our case, yes, it is just a copy and you need to select that option).
You might want to take a look at this page, too, as it contains essential information that you might need when WPML sees that the current site has been copied over a different domain. You must set that new site to "this is a copy of the main site."
I hope that you will find this information helpful. Please let me know if there's anything that's still not clear.
We have made some chenges to our website palmallorca.com - we did this on staging.palmallorca.com
SO we are sending the changes LIVE, and need to know, if the translation we bought a few days ago (Auto) will updage automatically og we can get the credit back and reuse for the same.
So, as long as you have the same sentence and nothing has changed to it, WPML will use that, and you won't have to "pay" again for the content translation because it has it in the memory.
However, as I mentioned above, if the content structure was changed when the design was implemented, and if the sentences changed a bit or have new content, like any HTML formatting added to them, WPML will have to re-translate the content. You will need credits again if you want to do it automatically.
If you want to do it manually (in case you don't have many pages/articles), I recommend that you copy the translations in a document and then manually add the translation.
