Hello,
one month ago I activated the browser language redirect and yesterday I realized that Google removed ALL my translated pages from index.
They all had a canonical url to the original language (en).

I therefore decided to remove the browser lang redirect option and asked through Google Search Console to index again all my language.

But now I would like to know how big is the SEO penalization at the moment.
Do I have lost years of SEO just clicking a checkbox?
Or Google will re-index all pages and give me back my SERP position?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the WPML Support Forum.

The indexing issue is not really caused by WPML, as this is how Google currently handles websites using the redirection by browser language feature. I would advise you to disbale the feature for now.

For more detailed information please read the following documentations:

-https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/how-browser-language-redirect-affects-google-indexing/

Let me know if you do have any further questions.

Kind regards
Andreas
