Hi, it looks like the images are being handled through Elementor, which means the replacement via Media Translation won’t work in this case. You’ll need to add an XML configuration for your theme as described here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multilingual-tools/registering-custom-elementor-widgets-for-translation/ (Your Theme seems to add custom Elementor widgets). After adding the configuration, you can set the image to be copied or replaced (ID, URL, etc.) via the WPML Translation Editor. Best regards, |

Hi, so I tried to follow the instructions from your link using the XML Congfigurator, but still it won't display the correct media translation, although it says under the: XML generated for widgets from this page that does not have translation settings: so it did not generate me an XML Code but still media on that page was not translated by the wpml media translation. best regards, |

Hi Franceso, thanks for info. I would eventually also need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it. ❌ Please backup your database and website ❌ ✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important. ✙ Please add the Links to the […] Edit Screen, the Page/Post where you insert the […] and the corresponding Front End Page/Screen Best Regards, |

Hi Francesco, yes, but I receive a 404 error on the backend login page? Is the changed wp-admin slug correctly, or maybe somehow limited via an IP? Best Regards, |

Kindly ignore my last message, as it was intended for another browser tab. Access is now functioning correctly. I will inform you once I have finished my test. Best regards, |

Hi, it appears that your theme essentially creates a duplicate of the native Elementor widget. When I add a native “Bilder Box” and your custom “Image Box”, the widgets displayed in the WPML editor look identical. Here is the code from the _elementor_data field: [{"id":"d10d20d","elType":"widget","settings":{"image":{"url":"http:\/\/ausculta.riorio.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Anleiten_A9.jpg","id":7463,"size":"","alt":"","source":"library"},"title_text":"Dies ist die \u00dcberschrift","description_text":"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo."},"elements":[],"widgetType":"image-box"}],"isInner":false}],"isInner":false},{"id":"85b5093","elType":"section","settings":[],"elements":[{"id":"014cc3b","elType":"column","settings":{"_column_size":100,"_inline_size":null},"elements":
From what I can see, the only field that could be made translatable is the image URL, not the ID. I tried to make the URL translatable through this XML configuration: <field type="Image Box: Link URL" editor_type="LINE" key_of="link">url</field> However, WPML does not detect that image URL. I will forward this issue to our compatibility team for further investigation. Best regards, |

Hi, would it help if I switch my recent theme to the "hello" theme? Best regards, |

Hi Francesco, no — the custom widget in your theme is essentially just a copy of the native one. We’re currently testing different XML configuration approaches to see whether we can make the image editable directly inside the editor so you can replace it there. If you need an urgent workaround for going live or showing something to your client, you can switch to manual mode and replace the image directly in Elementor while we continue looking for a permanent solution. You can find more details here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/ Best regards, |
