Hello Andrey, Many thanks for your help in this matter. The issue has been resolved now. If you go to WooCommerce -> Brands (WPML0017.png) then you see that all the brands have a translated version (WPML0018.png). I also have a restored version of a backup (13 July 2025) on a dedicated HyperV-VM. Not accessible from the outside world. On the testomgeving (Dutch for Test Environment) I do not have that issue. (WPML0019.png). Both the life version (WPML0020.png) and the test environment (WPML0021.png) have brand as not translated. What can I do to have the settings back to their original setting? Thank you for your help! With kind regards, |

I will upload the needed pictures again. 🙂 An alternative way of thinking: the brand may be translated, as long as the brand name is visible only once during the creation of a new product. Thus, not many times as shown in WPML0022.png but only once as shown in WPML0023.png. I have extended your admin rights. With kind regards, |

I appreciate your patience! 🙂 Thank you for the clear explanation and the pictures, Willem. Since the issue from the previous support ticket has been resolved, the access provided has been automatically deleted. However, I will try to offer a possible solution. It seems that your Brands became translated (as you mentioned), likely because the Brands taxonomy was set to "Translatable" at that time. Here are the steps I would suggest: 1. Set the Brands taxonomy to "Translatable" (refer to Screenshot 0020). 2. Go to Products → Brands (see Screenshot 0017). 3. Filter by language and delete the translations of the Brands. 4. Set the Brands taxonomy back to "Not Translatable". It should be fine now. Do not forget to make a backup. |

Hello Andrey, Thanks for your help so far. Now, the duplicate items are gone. That is good news. I removed them from the Dutch part. But.... I have changed my mind. Now, I would also like to have the brand translated. So, if you go to hidden link then you see some tea we sell. Also, with a introduction about the company. If you change the language to English, you get a 404. You have to change the URL to hidden link. Also, the introduction about the company is not shown. See also the attached WPML0024.png and WPML0025.png. My question is how to get all the brand names translated correctly, including the correct URL and an introduction. By the way, I have set the following: WPML -> Settings -> part 'Taxonomies Translation' -> Brands (product_brand) -> configured to 'translatable' Your help is appreciated a lot. With kind regards, |

Hello Willem, Sure 🙂 Could you please check if we are facing the same issue as we did with the product categories? Here’s a clear outline of the steps to follow: 1. Go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation Thank you |

Hello Andrey, I am sorry to inform you but the translation is missing. See WPML0026.png. How can I add these translations automatically? Also, the URL is mistranslated. If you visit hidden link and select English from the language selector, you will receive a 404 error. The URL hidden link is not found. That should be hidden link. I hope this is clear. Thank you for being so helpful in both matters! With kind regards, |

Hello Andrey, Many thanks for all your help in this matter. I apologise, but sometimes your instructions are too brief for me; I need more detailed information. I went to WPML → Taxonomy Translation. I selected 'Brands' from the pull-down menu. See WPML0027a.png. Then all the way down to 'Translations of taxonomy Brand labels and slug'. I changed the default language to Dutch. If you select English to check the translation, then the Dutch words are wrong. There is a mixture of English and Dutch. See WPML0028.png. ' Brand' / ' Brands' is English, but ' merk' is Dutch. So, my question is how to translate the slugs correctly. Also, it is essential to have the Dutch words set up correctly. Otherwise, you get weird translations. I have unchecked 'Don't show translated taxonomies in Translation Editor'. See WPML0029. Thank you for helping me out; it's greatly appreciated! With kind regards, |

Hello Willem, I apologize for being brief on this matter.
By default, the Brands are not translated. You probably got the mixed results for the Brand taxonomy itself, as the default is the Dutch language. However, you can go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation and correct the language for the Brand taxonomy to English (since it was initially registered in English) and then translate it into Dutch. I also think that you do not have these Singular/Plural labels somewhere on the site's frontends, only to ensure the slug is correct. I have attached the screenhost. |

Hello Andrey, Thanks for your reply. You wrote: "By default, the Brands are not translated. You probably got the mixed results for the Brand taxonomy itself, as the default is the Dutch language. However, you can go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation and correct the language for the Brand taxonomy to English (since it was initially registered in English)" I have done that. No problem whatsoever. But the 'slug' is still incorrect. The slug should be 'merk' and not 'brand'. See WPML0030.png. How can I set that? And I do not understand this part: "I also think that you do not have these Singular/Plural labels somewhere on the site's frontends, only to ensure the slug is correct." (I do not know how to quote...) With kind regards, |

Thank you for the update, Willem. You can use the quote tags in the text editor, or you can manually add the text between `< blockquote >` and `< /blockquote >` (without the space after `<`).
I meant that the Brand/Brands labels are likely not visible on your site.
I see two options here: 1. Since your Brand/Brands labels are probably not visible on the site, you could do the following: 2. If you want to keep it in English: I hope this helps! |

I forgot to mention one place where you actually can correct the slug. Go to: - WPML → Settings → Taxonomies Translation - Find Brands (product_brand) - Open "Set different slugs in different languages for Brands." and make needed adjustments. Please test this first, before making any steps suggested in my previous reply. |

Hello Andrey, Almost there! I have managed to get the translations fine. See WPML0037.png up to and including WPML0042.png. Only the menu has strange behaviour. It is not pointing to the correct URL. See WPML0043.png. How can I make sure that the menu is pointing to the correct language? Please, try it by yourself. Start with hidden link and change the language with the menu bar. Please, do that a couple of times. Your help is appreciated a lot! With kind regards, |
