we would like to hide the automatic translation section in WPML

hidden link

How can we do that directly in wp_config or on wpml_config.xml ?

We are a translation agency, so we do not rely on any automatic translation for us , nor for our clients.

Hi there.

Sorry for the delayed response - it has been a full queue for the past few days and it can take a bit longer to respond.

If you select the "Classic Translation Editor" instead of the "Advanced Translation Editor", from the WPML > Settings, then that option should not show up.

Related documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/translation-editor-options/

Outside of this option, you would need to go with a custom coding solution which is not covered by our Support Policy so you would need to hire a developer or a WPML contractor (https://wpml.org/contractors/).

I hope that you will find this information helpful 🙂

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

1 We would like to use Advanced Translation Editor
2 We can't use custom coding in this part as it's a core part of the system.

Hi there.

If you need to have ATE active, then you can use custom CSS as shown here or another custom solution:
hidden link

With CSS, you can target the proper anchor HTML element class and hide the "Automatic Translation" tab but it will also hide it for other users, too, so you will need to save the URL so that you access the URL directly.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the way around but:

Automatic translation it's not a proper translation in most of europeans languages. Having to use ccs tricks to hide this is not a good way of proceeding for WPML.

WPML Team shouldn't force this advertising all users.

WP Admin should be able to hide this section for all users except him natively within the plugin.

So that's a feature request !

Hi there.

I totally understand your expectation and I think it would be a nice feature to ask for - yes, that's definitely a feature request.

Can you please take a few moments to send this request to our dev team by completing the form in the URL below?

Thank you for your suggestion!
