Background of the issue:
I am trying to use AI translation credits on my site hidden link. I have 10354 credits assigned to this site and have 90000 more credits for the next year because I renewed the subscription

Symptoms:
In the settings, it states that 'Your site has no credits for AI translation.' I am unable to automatically translate and receive the message: 'You don't have enough credits to translate automatically!'

Questions:
Why does the setting states that my site has no credits for AI translation?
Why can't I automatically translate despite having credits assigned?

This type of issue usually happens when the WPML is not registered properly on that site or credits are stuck on site migration somehow. Can you please try to follow these steps and see if this resolves the issue:

1. Please login to your wpml.org account and go to the Sites page:
https://wpml.org/account/sites/

2. Delete the hidden link site key by pressing the little trash icon and it will return the assigned credits to your WPML.org account as mentioned in this doc: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/why-credits-may-be-missing-and-how-to-fix-it/#removing-a-sites-registration-from-wpml-org

3. Login to hidden link site and go to the Plugins >> Add new > Commercial tab and click the ‘Unregister WPML from this site’ link if that link exists.

4. Please click the ‘Register WPML’ link.

5. Click the ‘Get a key for this site’ link.

6 It will generate the Key for your site and you can also assign the credits using that popup, you may confirm the assigned credits from WPML >> Translation Dashboard > Translation Tools.

7. Copy the key and paste it back to the input box and press the Register button.

Please let me know the results,
Thank you

1. Either you can not read the comminication with your chat bot or you ignore it.
I have already reregistered the site in WP-ADMIN:
**Unregister WPML on your site**: Go to your WordPress admin and navigate to **Plugins → Add New → Commercial** tab. Locate WPML and click the **Unregister** link to deregister your current site key.
**Re-register WPML**: In the same **Commercial** tab, click **Register** again. This will prompt you to generate a new key or use an existing one.
This didn't help.
2. In the doc you mentioned it is stated: We do not recommend deleting a site from your list of registered sites unless you are no longer using WPML on it.
Why then should I do this?
3. This site always makes problems - what is wrong with it?
PS Please read the comminication with chat bot - there are some relevant things

1. Please check the automatic translation connection - same doc.
2. In WPML > Translation Dashboard > Translation I see 2 options:
Purchase packages of prepaid credits and assign them to your site
or
Activate pay-as-you-go and continue.
Why should I purchase something if I have enough credits:
Sites Using Prepaid Credits 90000 Credits available
hidden link
Credits assigned 19996
hidden link
Credits assigned 10354
cf. screenshot
3. By the way: I do understand that 90000 credits are from the subscription renewed, correct?
I think that I have had unassigned credits from the previous subscription, where are they?
Could you check please

- I suggested removing the key only because your credits were stuck and the site wasn’t syncing properly with WPML’s servers. Re-registering forces a fresh connection and usually clears this issue. It’s safe to do as long as you re-add the key right after. We don’t recommend deleting keys in normal cases, only when something is not syncing correctly, like in your situation.

- I assigned the stuck 19996 credits to hidden link site from here. You may confirm it from WPML >> Translation Dashboard > Translations Tools page.

-.Your 90,000 credits are the refill that comes with the renewal. WPML only tops your balance back up to the plan limit. So if you had unused credits from before, they were simply counted toward that limit. For example, if you already had some credits left, the system only adds the remaining amount needed to reach 90,000, not an additional 90,000 on top. Here is a doc for more details: https://wpml.org/purchase/wpml-renewal/#:~:text=renew%20WPML%2C%20we-,refill,-your%20translation%20credit

Please let me know if no credits issue is solved or if you need further assistance with this issue.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience

1. Re credits stuck with WPML’s servers: Thank you - now I can automatically translate in DEV and the message "Your site has no credits for Al translation." has disappeared.
2. Re I assigned the stuck 19996 credits to hidden link site:
Yes I can see it Translation Dashboard > Translation Tools, but according to https://wpml.org/account/manage-credits/ Sites Using Prepaid Credits - it is ZERO!
Cf. screenshot
Please clarify and/or fix this discrepancy.
3. Unassigned credits from the previous year: I do understand that I have lost the unassigned credits (30000) because I have not assigned them to the sites, correct?
If so I should always have all credits assigned before I renew the subscription, correct?
I do understand that it is my fault, but I would appreciate if as an exception you could add those 30000 credits (or what it was) to the PROD site
regards

1. Great to hear the translation credits are working again on the DEV site.

2. About the credits display, it will sync once you remove the old dev site key and register it again with a new one. I manually assigned the credits so you can keep working without interruption.

3. Regarding the lost credits, unassigned credits don’t carry over after renewal as mentioned in our doc, that’s how the system is designed, and it’s not something I can override. Only the credits already assigned to a site are kept. That’s why we recommend assigning any remaining credits before renewing.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding

I want to have the correct number of credits at Sites Using Prepaid Credits.
I do understand that to have a correct number of credits at Sites Using Prepaid Credits you suggest to: "Delete the hidden link site key by pressing the little trash icon and it will return the assigned credits to your WPML.org account".
But due to to the fact that number of credits is ZERO it will return ZERO - so I will lose around 19000 credits. How can it be guaranteed that it will not happen? Due to the fact that this discrepancy occured through your manual intervention I would prefer that you also fix the problem
regards

If the credits don’t return to your WPML.org account automatically, you will not lose them. I can move them back to your WPML.org account manually, and then you can safely assign them to any registered site by following this doc: https://wpml.org/faq/what-are-credits/#prepaid-credits. This happens because the credits are still linked to your account, they just need to be synced correctly.

Thank you

I have followed your advice:
1. DEV deleted from Your Registered Sites
2. DEV new registered with 2000 automatic credits
3. DEV unregistered in WP-Admin > AddPlugin > Commercial
4. DEV registered with new key in WP-Admin
The results in WPML > Translation Dashboard > Translation Tools are correct:
50,732 for PROD and 21,946 for DEV
But the Prepaid Credits show 21946 for DEV – correct and „Right now, these sites have 50732 credits“ for both PROD and DEV – WRONG! 50732 should be only for PROD.
I kindly ask to clarify/fix the problem finally
regards
PS Where can I read about free credits (2000)?

1. The reason you see 50,732 credits showing for both PROD and DEV is most likely because the system still thinks both domains belong to the same site. This usually happens after migrations or when the “I just logged in from a secondary domain” option was clicked. You can confirm this under WPML >> Support, if “Alias domains” are listed there, that means the two domains are linked.

Here is a doc for more details: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/using-advanced-translation-editor-when-you-move-or-use-a-copy-of-your-site/#:~:text=Have%20multiple%20domains%20pointing%20to%20the%20same%20site%2C%20and%20you%20logged%20in%20via%20one%20of%20the%20secondary%20domains

2. About the 2,000 complimentary credits, these are free credits automatically added when you register a new site and complete the setup. They’re just to help you start translating right away.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance with this issue.

1. I have not done any migration
2. At WPML >> Support I do NOT see “Alias domains” either in DEV, or in PROD, cf screenshots.
It seems to me that there are essential sync issues at WPML.
So what?
