Problem:
We are building a website using a theme that it's not on your compatible theme list. Would this create a lot of issues to deal with during translation?
Solution:
If the theme is not added to the list of compatible themes with WPML, it doesn't mean that the theme is not compatible with WPML but means that our compatibility team didn't test it.
I also see that the theme author mentions that it's compatible with WPML, so I think the only way is to use the theme and test it.
I couldn't find any support tickets that report any issues with this theme. So I suggest trying it and then contacting the theme authors for any issue that appears and getting their response.
Also, if there's anything that we will be able to help with after their response, we would be happy to do that.
Problem: I noticed that there is a conflict between Tonda Woocommerce Dropdown Cart widget and WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency plugin.
If there is nothing in the cart then the website is displaying correctly. But when adding a product to the cart then everything changes - menu is not working, content from the page is missing.
Solution: Please follow these steps in order to apply the workaround:
- Create a full backup of the site
- Go to .../wp-content/plugins/tonda-core/widgets/woocommerce-dropdown-cart/woocommerce-dropdown-cart.php line 76
- Change:
Problem:
Custom Language(Which is another variant of the German Language) is sometimes not appearing inside the Advanced Translation Editor.
Solution:
When you’re using a Custom Language on your site, you need to pay attention to Language Mapping. Otherwise, you may face some issues in Translation Editor with the Custom Language.
Problem:
We have a WordPress website that we want to set-up multiple languages on different subsdomains that we can manage on multisite by utilizing WPML. But when we added subdomain, we could also not see any options for WPML. Backend shows subdomain added but frontend shows no content.
Solution:
Subsites in subdomains + languages in domains (e.g. subsite.fr.test.com) is possible as long as the domain is properly pointed via DNS entry and it does not conflict with another subsite. However, this setup relies on experimental logic and may be prone to bugs. Instead, please refer to our documentation to see which URL formats are fully supported.
Problem:
How can I configure auto translations to use the German informal "du" instead of formal "sie"?
Solution:
this is only supported by the DeepL translation engine at the moment. Microsoft Azure and Google do not offer us the option of sending this as a parameter via their API.
1- Go to WPML-> Theme and plugins localization, select your theme, and scan
2- Go to WPML-> String Translation
3- Scroll down and click on the "Translate texts in admin screens »" link
4- Search for Logo URL and ID
5- Select the strings
6- Click on the "Add to String Translation" button
7- Then click on "the « Return to String Translation" link
8- Translate the strings, clear the cache, and check the front end
Problem: If you're experiencing issues with products switching to a different language after a cron update when using WP All Import and WP All Import Multilingual module, this might be due to the language being hidden. Solution: We recommend unhiding the Polish language in your settings as a temporary workaround. This issue has been escalated to our developers for a more permanent fix in future versions of our plugins.
Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.
Problem:
Homepages from secondary languages were all redirecting to a random page.
Solution:
It was not related to WPML. After using a redirect tracker, I found out that there were redirects 301 created in Yoast SEO.
Removing them solved the issue.
Problem:
When I removed a site, the credits assigned to it were lost
Solution:
1. Go to plugins->add new->commercial tab and verify that your site is registered (if you changed the domain you might need to update the key as well)
2. Go to WPML->Translation Management -> Automatic Translation-> verify your account is set up there, let me know what you currently see when you go to it.
3. Navigate to your database and run the following SQL query
select *
from wp_options
where option_name = 'WPML_SITE_ID:ate'
OR option_name = 'WPML_TM_AMS'
Problem:
Some strings coming from a custom theme weren't translated in English on the frontend even if they were translated in the backend.
Solution:
- The string was coming from a custom theme and could be translated in "WPML > String Translation"
- Translations were showing correctly on all languages but English which means that the string was properly registered for translation
- Resaving the English translation by added a space after the text was enough to solve the issue.
Avada global elements don't show in the translation editor while translating a page.
Solution:
The global elements will not appear in the editor when you translate the page. Instead, you'll need to translate them separately by going to Fusion Builder → Library. You can watch this video for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvFmkF3clxc.
