[Resolved] Split: Links not showing on translated page
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client reported that some links were not being transferred to the translated pages. Specifically, certain links that should have been present and bold were missing entirely, and attempts to add these links using various methods were unsuccessful. Solution: We recommended the following steps to address the issue: 1. Ensure to create a backup of the site before making any changes. 2. Disable all plugins except for WPML and Elementor. 3. On the default language page, switch to the text editor (not visual), cut all the text, paste it back, and then save the page. 4. Attempt to re-translate the page. These steps helped resolve the issue locally in our tests. If the problem persists, we suggest trying to reproduce the issue on a test site and provide us with the steps, so we can investigate further.
Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue continues, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Anyway, a slightly related issue I'm left with now is some links not being transferred at all to the translated pages - as in not even wrongly linking to original pages. The links are just not there. They're on this page: hidden link
Lesiones en trampolines, Lesiones laborales, Muerte por negligencia - these should have links. They're not even bold like on the original page (but they become bold if I remove the link). Adding the link back just makes the text weight regular and nothing more (it doesn't matter if I use dynamic links or not, that's never helped with anything).
I was able to add one or two links by just repeatedly making slight edits to the original text, either to the link itself or the paragraph it's in and there was no discernible pattern that always worked. It's all very random. Those last 3 links I just wasn't able to add whatever I tried and however many times I tried it. Hope you can help with this.
- Please backup the site files and database before providing us access.
- If you have a staging site where the problem can be reproduced, it is better to share access to the staging site.
Unfortunately I can't give you access to the site.
Judging by all the numerous issues I've seen people have with WPML, I'm certain you've heard people having this issue before.
Do you have any ideas about what else I can try? It copied over all the links on the page and translated them except for those 3 that it won't even copy over, no matter how many times I remove them -> publish -> add them -> publish again. Doesn't matter how I add them either (internal links vs. /page-slug/).
I've wasted a lot of credits trying to get those links fixed, hope I won't need to waste any more.
I am afraid it is difficult for me to say this, can be many things. If the pages are translated and you are adding the correct translated links, it should work fine.
If you can share access to the staging site or provide a copy of the website that would be helpful so I can have a look and investigate what went wrong.
I have checked your website and could see the issue, I have also tried to reproduce it on Sandbox but there it works fine.
So this is what have I done locally and it seems to work and translate fine:
- Please make sure to create a backup, before doing any actions, just in case.
- Disable all other plugins and leave active only WPML plugins and Elementor
- Go to the default language page and edit this section, in the text editor select text view, not visual, and "cut" all the text, paste it again, and save the page
- Re-translate and it should work fine, at least for what I have tried.
I am not sure what could have caused it but maybe it was the way the page were saved or something was blocking it first it was saved.
If you can provide steps to reproduce it again or try to reproduce it on the test site I can escalate further for check. Otherwise please try the suggested steps and let me know if that works.
I fixed those links by adding them using the text editor instead of the visual editor.
The code was identical to all the other links that transferred over fine. Really wish you'd forward this issue to someone on the dev team so they can look into it.
