Can you help us understand it, so that we can deliver something that you can use?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Craigslist is probably the biggest classifieds site on the web. For instance, look at <a href=\"http:\/\/geneva.fr.craigslist.ch\/\">Craigslist Geneva<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_156360\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-156360\" style=\"width: 641px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-156360\" alt=\"Craigslist Geneva\" src=\"http:\/\/wpml.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craiglist-geneva.png\" width=\"641\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpml.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craiglist-geneva.png 641w, https:\/\/wpml.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craiglist-geneva-150x82.png 150w, https:\/\/wpml.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/craiglist-geneva-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-156360\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Craigslist Geneva<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Geneva is as multilingual city as it gets, so I&#8217;m using it as a good reference as to what a multilingual classifieds site should do.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what I see:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can easily switch the site&#8217;s language (top right of the page).<\/li>\n<li>The site language determines all the &#8216;hard coded&#8217; texts, as well as the ad categories.<\/li>\n<li>The entire interface switches, including the dialogs for setting up ads, managing your account, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Ads themselves stay in the original language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To me, the last point is critical and makes perfect sense. Visitors submit all these ads. What are the chances that a visitor would submit an ad and translate it into our site&#8217;s languages? I&#8217;m betting it&#8217;s zero probability.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward with multilingual classifieds sites with WPML, does this recipe work for you?<\/p>\n<p>Switching the site languages would control everything that YOU write (interface, categories, dialogs), but all the user-generated content remains in the same language.<\/p>\n<p>Right now (really now) we are working with leading classifieds-theme developers, as well as our own solution via <a href=\"https:\/\/toolset.com\/\">Toolset<\/a>, for multilingual classifieds site.
