This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is developing a site using WPML for translations and encountered an issue where WPML indicated a need for 150,000 credits to translate a few pages. Additionally, the homepage showed as translated, but when attempting to edit, it requested translation again, and the review process in WPML > Translations was unresponsive.
Solution:
We recommended switching from the "Translate everything automatically" option to the "Translate what you choose" option in WPML > Settings to gain better control over what content is sent for translation. This change helps manage the translation workload and potentially reduce the number of credits required. For the issue with the homepage and the unresponsive review process, we suggested checking the Advanced Translation Editor > Error Log under WPML > Support for any errors. If errors are present, sharing them via a service like pastebin.com could help us diagnose the issue further. Additionally, due to our support policy of handling one problem per ticket, the homepage issue was moved to a separate ticket for focused resolution.

Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
We are developing a site and using WPML for translations. Most of our website is translated.

Symptoms:
WPML is indicating that we need 150,000 credits to complete a few pages.

Questions:
Why is WPML asking for 150,000 credits to translate a few pages?
What might be causing this discrepancy in the credit requirement?

Hi there.

When using the "Translate everything automatically" option, WPML will try to translate every piece of content it can find on the website. There's a chance many parts of content on the site you will not even want to translate, or they might not be ready for translation.

My recommendation is to use the "Translate what you choose" option (you can switch between these two options inside WPML > Settings) because it gives you full control over the exact content that you are sending for translation.

When you select multiple pages inside WPML > Translation Management, WPML will show you an estimate of the number of credits required. If you are using a lot of content inside the page, if you are using plugins that add a lot of metadata inside the page, or if you translate in many languages, then these could be a few reasons why you will see a bigger amount of credits required.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.

Hi there, and thank you for the updates.

Can you please send a screenshot of this area: WPML > Support > Advanced Translation Editor > Error Log?

Or copy all of the errors you see there (if there are any) and share them with us through a site like pastebin.com. Then, share the link here with us (only you and us will see the URL you are sharing).

Thank you!

Thank you for the screenshot and for your amazing patience.

Per our Support Policy, we can handle only one problem per ticket.

Continuing with one issue per ticket helps supporters focus on one problem at once and enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

So I am converting this last issue that you mentioned to a new separate ticket where I am going to ask for site credentials so that I can dig a little depeer on that matter.

This is the new ticket:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-existing-translations/

Can you please mark this current ticket as resolved?

Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
