The problem is, that there is only one workflow for translation. So the featured image caption should also be translated in that one workflow. Is there a way we can work around that?

The best way to translate an image caption would be to use the "Media Translation" plugin. You can refer to this section of the documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/

Hi!

Thanks, I installed that now. I am not sure if you understood the main issue..

The main problem is not the duplication, but that the translations are entered in the WMPL, but do not arrive in the media library and have to be entered manually. This is in my eyes a bug on the part of WPML, which should be solved... Or is that really how it's supposed to work?

Sorry, I'm not so sure if I'm getting this. Are you saying that you've already translated the media captions but it's not displaying in the WP > Media Library?

I think it's best that you can record a short screen recording using this free tool hidden link to show me what you're trying to explain there.

I would need to take a closer look at your site. So I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons, and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/plugin for these backup needs.

Your following answer will be private, which means only you and I have access to it.

✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if required. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

I've tested it here hidden link and it worked fine. You need to use the language switcher on top of the admin bar here hidden link to switch languages.

I am not sure if you understood. You placed an image in the Content (Gutenberg). But we are talking about the featured image of the post (without having to place it in Gutenberg).

Sorry, we would need a site snapshot to continue with the troubleshooting. Or can we have your permission to create a snapshot on our own?

We usually recommend the free Plugin “Duplicator” for this purpose.

If you already know how Duplicator works ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/),please skip the following steps and just send me the archive file you downloaded.

If the file is too large (more than 400M), please use the Duplicator file filters to remove the cache, the wp-uploads directory, the media, and the archive files.

Send me the link to the archive file (you probably want to use Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar services, as the snapshot file will be quite big).

Your next reply will be private, which means that only you and I will be able to see it and have access to it.

You can paste the link to the file there.

Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

I am sorry, I am short on time and I never used the Duplicator (We use All in One WP Migration). But feel free to install the Duplicator on unisono-dev.windband.ch and get a copy! Thanks for looking into this.

I've tested your Website locally on my dev site and it seems to work fine.

I'm able to translate the captions of a "featured image" of a post. Then, editing the translated post shows the translated captions.

I've created a sandbox site here hidden link that demonstrates this.
