From there, you can switch between <strong>Production<\/strong> and <strong>Beta<\/strong> channels.<\/p>\n<p><!---more---><\/p>\n<h2>What do I need to consider before installing beta versions of WPML?<\/h2>\n<p>Beta versions of WPML let you test versions that haven&#8217;t been officially released yet. The beta versions may contain potential errors and are not recommended for live sites. You are strongly recommended to make backups before installing these. <\/p>\n<h2>What are the different release channels of WPML?<\/h2>\n<p>There are two types of releases, also called &#8220;channels&#8221;:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wiki-list0\">\n<li><strong>Production<\/strong> &#8211; this is the default channel and includes only the official, stable releases. It is safe to upgrade and it is advised only to make a backup\u00a0before upgrading as a minimum precaution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beta<\/strong> &#8211; these are the &#8220;almost stable&#8221; releases. In the beta stage, our plugins are not completely\u00a0covered by the QA process. This means they can contain potential errors. You are strongly recommended to make backups before installing these. Additionally, you should <strong>not<\/strong> use beta releases on live, production sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How can I switch to a different release channel?<\/h2>\n<p>To switch to another channel go to the\u00a0<strong>Plugins\u00a0<\/strong>page, click the\u00a0<strong>Add New\u00a0<\/strong>button and then click the\u00a0<strong>Commercial\u00a0<\/strong>tab. Under the <strong>Update channel\u00a0<\/strong>option, use the drop down menu to select the channel you want to switch to. You <strong>cannot\u00a0<\/strong>downgrade from a Beta to a previous stable version. For example, if you switched to the <strong>4.5 Beta<\/strong> version, you can not downgrade it to a <strong>4.4 Production<\/strong> version.
