Learn how to take over ownership of a site a developer built for you.

If the developer who built your site has registered it under their WPML account, they control renewals, access to support, and other factors related to your site.

This may not be an effective setup for you in the long term — especially if you lose contact with the developer.

To ensure you have control and ownership of your site:

1. Purchase the WPML Multilingual CMS plan. This also allows you to register more sites under this account, apart from the one your developer has built.

2. Go to your site’s admin and click on Plugins → Add Plugin and switch to the Commercial tab.

3. Click on Unregister WPML from this site.

4. On the pop up, click on Get a key for this site to get a new registration code from your own account, and paste it in the field. WPML is now re-registered under your own WPML subscription.
