Hi,
I submitted a ticket requesting assistance / clarification about using your product but have yet to get a response from anyone. I am rather surprised by what feels like a very slow response time. I am sure there must be good reason, however, time is of the essence and I really would appreciate your assistance. I think you guys have a wonderful product and I imagine you get a lot of requests.
Note, I am referring to my issue about google translate overriding the translation even though I have turned it off in the browser settings.
Hello Helena.
You mean, you submitted a ticket in our support forum? If so, could you please share the link to it? I will get in touch with our supporters to check why it takes so long to reply. I cannot see any other comments here, in pre-sales questions with yuor email address so I assume you are referring to a support forum ticket.
I don’t know the specifics of your problem but if Google is overriding your translations it means you have another plugin enabled that does so. WPML doesn’t have such a feature.
1. Could you please share the full text of the license?
2. We are developing a WordPress-based site for a client. Who should be the licensee under your terms, the developer or the site owner? If the site owner should be the licensee, can the developer purchase the license so the license is written to a different organization?
Hello Mikhail,
Our license terms are here https://wpml.org/faq/limitations-on-using-wpml/. As regards your second question, the account owner is the person whose mail has been registered on our site. This means that this person is entitled to access the account along with the Download area, Support and Sites, among the other features. You are welcome to purchase the license and then edit the details in Settings.
The page that you referred me to contains a statement that the license is GPL. I am assuming that you mean GNU GPL. Which version – GNU GPLv2 or GNU GPLv3? And how can you license under GPL what you sell commercially – under its terms, the first customer you’d sell it to would have the right to distribute it free of charge? Maybe I should have clarified up front – we are planning on purchasing a WPML CMS Lifetime license.
Hello Mikhail,
Our code is under GPL, which means you can modify it and use it as you want. Our logo and name are trademarked. When you buy a subscription from us you can install our plugin on as many client sites as you need. But you cannot resell it.
Unfortunately, it does not. Let me just highlight and enumerate the questions, maybe you could escalate them to someone who is dealing with license matters at your company:
1. Do you mean GNU GPL by referring to your license as “GPL”
2. If so, which version of GNU GPL do you use – GPLv2 or GPLv3?
3. Is the license that comes with WPML CMS Lifetime license a GNU GPL license?
4. If by “GPL” you mean something different than GNU GPL, please provide the full text of the license.
WPML’s license it GPLV3. Please also note that WPML’s name and logo are trademarked, meaning we don’t allow redistribution as WPML in any form. Clients can use WPML plugin on all their sites and sites they build for their clients, but are not allowed to redistribute it, no matter if it’s with or without charge.
If you have any questions about legitimate usage, don’t hesitate to ask.
Dear Amir,
I am from the Procurement Office and am a little bite lost as you are mentioning that we cannot redistribute/transfer the licence. In fact, we need 2 accesses to the code/support and want to pay only for 1 ‘user’.
A = I am the final ‘user’ of the Multilingual CMS Lifetime plugg-in and final owner of the CMS website.
B = Mikhail is the developer of our (new) CMS website.
Could you please precise:
– who need to buy/pay the Multilingual CMS Lifetime plugg-in (online): A or B or both?
– who sign/validate your GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE – Version 3, 29 June 2007: A or B or both?
Thanks in advance for your return.
Hello,
by redistribution we mean sharing it somewhere online for downloading or reselling. If you buy WPML and install it in your customers’ sites, that’s fine.
In the cases that you have described, both A and B are legitimate users. So either A or B buys. Please note that only person who buys WPML will be able to sign into the WPML account and ask questions in our support forum. If A buys, in case of issues, if he/she wants to contact our support forum, A would need to share his/her account credentials with B. I hope it helps.
Hi i want to purchase the Multilingual CMS Lifetime to use in some sites, but first i need to know if is possible to link part of the content of the original site http://joseclaverofoto.com with part of the content traslated of the trasverted site in another Domain http://joseclaverofoto.domain
Maybe, but i´ll try to explain better: Por example, in Original site joseclaverofoto.com in Spanish I have 30 entries, 10 in the category weddings and 20 in another categories. I want to place in the original site the wpml plugin English flag in these 10 wedding entries and connect each entrie with the same content but traslated in the traslated page in another Domain joseclaverofoto.domain dedicated only to weddings content, diferent theme, with different entries but with the same 10 weddings entries traslated to english of the original site in Spanish.
Hi Jose,
there is no direct way WPML supports this our of the box (custom programming would be needed). As a workaround you can consider adding a link from the post body directly to your other site.
Hi,
I would like to know which version is convenient for my case (see my site detailed) before to buy the plugin. I don´t know the difference between Multilingual Blog and Multilingual CMS versions.
In addition, WPML is a heavy plugin or should it work well at my site?
Kind regards,
Our purchase page lists the differences between the content of the two packages that we offer: https://wpml.org/purchase/
If you’re not sure, you can start with the $29 package (Multilingual Blog). If has the core plugin but not the String Translation and Translation Management. These components are typically needed for sites that are more than simple blogs.
If you decide to upgrade, you will only need to pay the difference ($50).
I can’t find an order with your email and I only have your first name. Can you use our private contact form to give us your full details, so we can look-up your order? https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
I just buy the product and I did not receive the email with account info and downloadable link. My number is: Registration number: 1683657 VAT number: EU196000846.
Can you please resend me the link. I received the confirmation of order, but not the other email with login info.
I just created a new password for you and sent it to your email. If you’re not seeing that either, please have all at ‘all email’ as it may be hiding in ‘promotions’ or ‘spam’. Normally our new-account email doesn’t hit these sections. If it did, can you let me know?
1. Is this compatible with Thrive Architect and Thrive themes ?
2. Is this compatible with Divi ?
3. For slider, does this allow us to translate on revolution slider ?
4. When we buy lifetime or CMS license, can we install on unlimited sites ?
Hello,
thanks for your interest in WPML.
1. This theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team. You should still be able to translate pages and posts, categories, menus, tags but you might have issues with translating your theme custom features.
2. Yes, we are. We have tutorials how to translate with Divi.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.
Thanks Agnes. Great to hear from you.
One more question. Can we buy CMS license first ? If it is suitable for our needs, can we still pay the difference to get the lifetime license ? Is there any time duration to do the upgrade ?
As we are helping our client website, and if we get CMS license, what is the usual practice of acquiring the license ? Should it be licensed under client’s email or developer’s email ?
Yes, you can buy CMS first and then upgrade to the Lifetime for the difference in purchase price. You can upgrade anytime. This is how it works now, please note that we might change our pricing model in the future.
“what is the usual practice of acquiring the license ? Should it be licensed under client’s email or developer’s email ?”
Most WordPress developers buy the license for themselves (with the developer email) and this way they can use one license for all the sites they develop. Also only the person with access to WPML account can ask questions in our support forum.
But on the other hand we’ve had some complaints from the business owners saying that their developer left and now they cannot access the account or our support forum. Up to you.
Hi we are developing a website and like your translation plugin.
Before we buy, I have a couple of questions.
1) Can we edit content on different translations separately, ie have different info, not just word for word translation?
2) Can we also have separate browser titles and meta data?
3) Finally, does your software do GEO drecting, ie if someone in spain ip accesses then it loads a spanish version, of the site.
Oh, I live in Costa rica and only make $3 an hour. We are only doing one website, do you have a big discount for your $79 cms version if we only use it on one or maybe a second site next year etc. Hopefully we can get a good discount
Thanks for your help, and thanks for creating such a great plugin.
1. Yes. It’s up to you what you enter. WPML doesn’t translate automatically.
2. Yes. You can also translate meta data but you need to use a SEO plugin. We are compatible with the most popular SEO plugins.
3. No GEO-based redirecting. We have a featured (disabled by default) to detect the user language set in his browser.
I’m really sorry but we don’t have any discounts available.
Hi, we’re currently developing a site which uses the scripts n styles plugin by unfocus, which is compatible apparently. Does this compatibility mean it just won’t cause conflicts or can it actually be ‘translated’? We need to call slightly different scripts per language 🙂
So find your plugin/theme and see if there are any notes. Of course sometime some new issues might appear in a new version of this plugin/theme and if that’s the case, you need to open a ticket in our support forum and our Compatibility Team will need to test it again.
Hi Agnes, thanks for the quick reply. I had already checked whether the theme (divi) and plugin in question were on the compatibility lists, which they are. I just wasn’t sure (it’s still open) whether the listing for the plugin ‘scripts n styles’ just means that it won’t cause conflicts or that I can actually ‘translate’ the scripts per active language (like what is possible with advanced custom fields).
Normally it means that you can also translate everything but this plugin is very specific so I need to check that out with my colleagues from the Compatibility Team to answer your question. I will keep you posted.
Yes, sorry for the delay. I talked to my colleges from the COmpatibility Team and they say that the plugin will allow you to server different scripts and CSS per language. Have a great day!
Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I can’t seem to figure out where/how to serve the scripts/styles per language. Everything else seems to be going quite smooth. Any pointers are more that welcome (I have a lovely, new deadline in 24hr)!
Hello Ronald,
you can ask the question in our support forum but let me also ask the developer who was working on making this plugin compatible with WPML. https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Unfortunately no, the screenshots seem to refer to global scripts/styles. With the “scripts n styles” plugin we load different scripts/styles per page/project so I was expecting (since it is compatible) a per page/project field for this plugin where I could ‘translate’ the necessary code. Basically, exactly like what is being done with the Divi Code Module, which can be ‘translated’ per page/project.
Hey Ronald. Thanks for your reply. I will get in touch with our developer again. I would be more convenient to follow up in a support ticket to get our replies faster. But once I have any feedback from our developer I’ll reply here.
If you prefer creating a support ticket that’s fine by me of course 🙂
The devloper replied:
“I understand, here is how to translate it.
1. Go tp WPML > Translation management > Multilingual Content Setup tab > Custom Fields Translation
2. Click “Show Hidden Fields”
3. Set SnS filed to translate
Hello, I want to ask. I have a problem with displaying translations of the Frontend Course Creation plugin. For languages I use WP Multilang, but this does not support Frontend Course Creation. Supports WPML Frontend Course Creation? Will I resolve a problem with incorrect language display if I go to WPML? Frontend Course Creation does not support any language plugin. Well thank you.
Hello,
this plugin hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team, so we cannot say if it works or doesn’t. Some plugins work out of the box with WPML, some don’t. The only way to check it is to buy WPML and test it yourself. If it turns out it doesn’t work, please use our refund policy and we will give your money back. But please note that you can test it only for 30 days. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hello, we’re thinking of purchasing one of the licenses. I have a question though about custom fields in our CMS. We have, for example, pages for individual authors where we’ve added some extra fields by adding hooks to another third-party authoring plugin. How would the WPML plugin affect those? Since the site would be multi-lingual for different authors, who come from many different countries, is there a way to translate those additional fields in wp-admin? Would it translate those additional fields automatically?
Hello,
if your custom fields were created according to WordPress standards, WPML should detect them and you will be able translate them using our String translation module. Please note that nothing is translated automatically. You need to provide translations.
I purchased an annual license ($79) for my client’s site back in 2013. I’m wondering now if at some point they let their license lapse? I just tried logging in to purchase the lifetime license for ($195), but I’m getting an error upon login with my 2013 credentials. Will this need to be a new install for my client with the lifetime license or new login credentials assigned?
Hello Cindy,
I’ve checked our records and indeed you have an expired WPML subscription. So once you log into your WPML account, you will be able to upgrade for $116 instead of $195.
I want to use your plugin only to offer multiple currency option to buyers. Do you have any demo for multiple currencies or any real website that is using multi currency option?
I am looking for a plugin that would allow me to set prices for WooCommerce products in different currencies; e.g., PKR and USD (and GBP), and the ability to either set my own product pricing manually, or use an exchange rate.
I’m using “WooCommerce Weight Based Shipping” plugin for calculating different rates for different zones.
My website would only be in English, but I just need different currencies and pricing for products.
On frontend, of course, I would need a currency switcher.
My main concern is the checkout page too; it usually messes up the currency calculation along with shipping rates.
So, is WPML the right choice?
Please guide me.
Thank you.
P.S: If possible, you may email me the response directly, and we can carry conversation there.
Hello Mert,
Thanks for your interest. This page seems to work fine on our side https://wpml.org/purchase/. Have you tried clearing your cache or from a different browser?
I am working with wordpress and wanted to make my website not only in english, but also in german.
Unfortunately I cannot find the Plug-in in WordPress to activate.
I do not understand, how I can implement it into WordPress, buying it directly from you……
Please explain.
Hi Armin,
yes, WPML is a commercial plugin and we are the authors. You need to buy it, and then download the zip file from your WPML account and install it in your WordPress site as you would do with any other WordPress plugin. We have tutorials as well.
On the purchase page at the bottom of the table I see “Account renewal per year”. Does this mean I need to pay an extra fee each year to keep the plugin active and working?
Hello Mark, an active subscription is required to access new versions of our plugins and get support help. If you don’t renew your plugins will continue working but of course we cannot foresee what happens when you upgrade your WordPress to the new version and won’t upgrade WPML. If you have a lifetime subscription, you don’t need to renew. You can upgrade to the Lifetime subscription later for the difference in purchase price.
Hello
I am building a website for a sporting event of which the profits will be given to people with kidney failure. As you understand I am trying to make everything low budget. So I would like to kindly ask you if it is possible to have wpml for free or on a discount.
Best Regards
Yiannis
Hello,
I’m sorry but we don’t have any discounts. The good news is that if you buy a WPML subscription you can use one license for all the websites you build so that you can use it also for your other projects.
Hello
I am building a website for a sports event that is taking place in Athens, Greece. The funds that will be raised will be given to people with kidney failure. As you understand I am trying to built the page with the most less expenses, so I would like to kindly ask you if it is possible to donate me the wpml for this purpose. The Lifetime package would be the best choice for us so we won’t have to renew it every year. If you can not give it for free at least a generous discount would be appreciated
I have a listing theme and I am not sure if the WPML would work properly translating some parts of the theme.
Is there any way to get a license for testing purposes?
Hello Nicole,
I am afraid we have stopped supporting non-profits for now. We continue to support the existing ones in our system but we cannot take new ones. You are welcome to buy WPML and try it for 30 days. If it does not suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/.
Hi,
I submitted a ticket requesting assistance / clarification about using your product but have yet to get a response from anyone. I am rather surprised by what feels like a very slow response time. I am sure there must be good reason, however, time is of the essence and I really would appreciate your assistance. I think you guys have a wonderful product and I imagine you get a lot of requests.

I look forward to hearing from someone.
I want to use the plugin to give customers a choice of paying for items in GBP, USD or EUR – is this possible? I can’t seem to find a simple answer!
Hello Clare,
yes, you can do this. Please check this article https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#multiple-currencies
Kind regards,

Thanks Mercedes, but now I am even more confused.
Hello Mikhail,
Our code is under GPL, which means you can modify it and use it as you want. Our logo and name are trademarked. When you buy a subscription from us you can install our plugin on as many client sites as you need. But you cannot resell it.

B = Mikhail is the developer of our (new) CMS website.

Hello,
by redistribution we mean sharing it somewhere online for downloading or reselling.
Can you use your WPML licence on two Domanis
Hello Fred,
Yes, you can use WPML on as many sites as you want with an active subscription.

Hello Jose,
We have this bridge plugin WPML All Import https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/
I am not sure this is what you need? Let me know if you need something different and I can check with the tech team.

Hi team,
I have written 2 similiar presales questions since 10 Jan. But they are not showing up. I notice your site is under maintenance recently.
I cannot see your previous comments. But our site is up and running.
Hi, we’re currently developing a site which uses the scripts n styles plugin by unfocus, which is compatible apparently. Does this compatibility mean it just won’t cause conflicts or can it actually be ‘translated’? We need to call slightly different scripts per language 🙂
Hi Ronald,
if a plugin/theme is compatible with WPML it means that our Compatibility Team has tested it so you shouldn’t have any conflicts and you should translate everything unless we say otherwise in our notes on these two pages:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
So find your plugin/theme and see if there are any notes. Of course sometime some new issues might appear in a new version of this plugin/theme and if that’s the case, you need to open a ticket in our support forum and our Compatibility Team will need to test it again.
Hi Agnes, thanks for the quick reply. I had already checked whether the theme (divi) and plugin in question were on the compatibility lists, which they are.
Now create page/post and translate accordingly.
Please see screenshots it will be clear.”

Is the plugin comes with export and import feature?
Hello Costas,
Yes we have a plugin for this. You can read more about it here https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/
Kind regards,
I purchased an annual license ($79) for my client’s site back in 2013.
Did you use this link to reset the password?
https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/
Please try. If for any reason it doesn’t work, please this form to let us know: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/.
Once you login, you will see a link to upgrade.
I want to use your plugin only to offer multiple currency option to buyers. Do you have any demo for multiple currencies or any real website that is using multi currency option?
Hello Vishal,
You can see how to use Multiple Currencies with WPML here https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#multiple-currencies
Let me know if you have any further question.
Kind regards,
Hi there,
I am looking for a plugin that would allow me to set prices for WooCommerce products in different currencies; e.g., PKR and USD (and GBP), and the ability to either set my own product pricing manually, or use an exchange rate.
Hello,
I will contact you via e-mail about this now.
Kind regards,
Hi i try to buy WPML but your payment page is redirect me https://wpml.org/purchase/pre-sales-questions/ this page and payment is not completed.
Hello Mert,
Thanks for your interest. This page seems to work fine on our side https://wpml.org/purchase/. Have you tried clearing your cache or from a different browser?
Best,
Hello!
I am working with wordpress and wanted to make my website not only in english, but also in german.
Unfortunately I cannot find the Plug-in in WordPress to activate.
I do not understand, how I can implement it into WordPress, buying it directly from you……
Please explain.
Thanks and BR Armin
Hi Armin,
yes, WPML is a commercial plugin and we are the authors. You need to buy it, and then download the zip file from your WPML account and install it in your WordPress site as you would do with any other WordPress plugin. We have tutorials as well.
Hi,
On the purchase page at the bottom of the table I see “Account renewal per year”. Does this mean I need to pay an extra fee each year to keep the plugin active and working?
What happens when I don’t pay it?
Best Regards
Yiannis
Hello, our previous question was waiting for moderation. I have just replied.
Hello, good afternoon.
I have a listing theme and I am not sure if the WPML would work properly translating some parts of the theme.
Is there any way to get a license for testing purposes?
regards,
Hello,
you can check theme/plugin compatibility on these two pages:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
Our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hi! I’ve read that you offer WPML free to non-profits. Is that true? If so, what do I need to do to acquire the free non-profit license?
Thank you 🙂
Hello Nicole,
I am afraid we have stopped supporting non-profits for now. We continue to support the existing ones in our system but we cannot take new ones. You are welcome to buy WPML and try it for 30 days. If it does not suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/.
Hope this help!
Kind regards,
