Hi,
I have taken over a website that had WPML language translater already installed. How can I edit the english menu, as some tabs need to manually be translated and we need ti have the correct drop downs in the correct places. Please see below link
Hello, in that case, we can reset the password for you, but before we do so, we need to make sure that it’s your WPML account and you haven’t’ done it in the meantime. Please use this form https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/ to contact us and we will reset the password manually for you.
Hello Luis,
yes, WPMl is a WordPress plugin. Yes, you can use it for redirections based on the language set in the user’s browser (you will need to enable this feature) but the recommended way is to use the language switcher (you can use both options actually). You install WPML in your WordPress site.
Hello. Hello, I use the Storefront template and Polylang plugin. I would like to be able to change the logo depending on the language of the site. Does WPML have this functionality and which version?
Hello,
please see this thread to understand how you can translate the logo image. https://wpml.org/forums/topic/logo-change-different-language/#post-2419747 Best would check the Storefront template to see what’s in its wp-config file since this theme compatibility is still in beta: https://wpml.org/theme/storefront/ In the meantime I will ask our Compatibility Team developers about it, but it might take a while before I provide you the reply so if you can check it yourself, would be great. We also have a plugin that allows you to migrate from Polylang to WPML.
I’m currently using another plugin to manage translation. I find cumbersome that I can only translate a post one paragraph at the time. I have to copy/paste from Word each paragraph separately.
Does your plugin allow to translate many paragraphs in one shot?
There are 3 ways to translate with WPML:
1) Using the WP editor
2) Using the WPML Classic Translation Editor
3) Using the WPML Advanced Translation Editor
Both the WP editor and the Classic Translation Editor allow you to translate many paragraphs in one shot.
Only the Advanced Translation Editor works one paragraph at a time.
I’ve tried to purchase your plugin, but with no luck. When I’m choosing PayPay payment I’m prompted to add a credit card, which is not my intention – I’m going to pay with the PayPal account. I have contacted PayPal and they say thats you who forces credit card payment. Is that true? I’m not a credit card user and I wan’t be. Does it mean that I can not buy WPML? Also few days ago I asked, how the process of automatic renewal exactly works what are opt out options?
Hello, we are not forcing to add a credit card, that is only an option that is available. You need to log in with you PayPal account and select the pay with the account balance instead of the credit card option. You can also cancel your subscription anytime. Just press Cancel in your WPML account.
Unfortunately, tahs not the case – there is no option to pay for your plugin with the PayPal account balance. And PayPal confirms it. They say this is due to your settings. Adding a credit card is the only option available in your payment interface. The only other is canceling the payment and returning to WPML website.
Thanks Jo. So I need to discuss it once again with our developers. Before providing you with my previous answer I consulted it with our devs and this is what they told me how our system works. I’m confused myself. Maybe we have a bug or something. I’ll double check.
Many thanks Agnes, for double checking the issue. It would be perfect, if my payment gateway looked like the one you pictured, but unfortunately it does not. Please see what I’m getting when attempting to pay for WPML: http://www.piela.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/paypal_wpml.png
I’m 100% sure, that my account balance in USD is more than sufficient to cover the purchase. I asked PayPal again, if they are sure, it is nothing on their side, but they re-confirmed, that this requirement is totally up to your settings.
Thank you Jo. I’ll get in touch with our developers once again. Can I pass your email address to our developers so they can contact you directly for some details if needed?
Hi Agnes, sure, please do. I will be glad to provide any further info. In the mean time, can I just transfer the money to for the plugin to your e-mail address using “send money to a friend” option? We are due to launch our website before Xmas and therfore I’m quite in hurry.
My colleague Mercedes has contacted you directly to sort it out. I hope you received her email.
One more thing. Our devs say that the only way that PayPal will only accept a credit card is if the client does not have enough balance on his/her PayPal account to complete the purchase.
Hi Agnes, Yes Mercedes contacted me, but I haven’t got her reply regarding sending you money on your PayPal e-mail address, so that I can pay from by account balance. I’m running out of time, therfore I would highly appreciate your reply.
Hello Jo,
Mercedes here 🙂 I don’t think this is something we can do. I am waiting for a reply on any further payment option.
Let’s go on this talk via e-mail.
Unfortunately, talking via e-mail doesn’t seem to work well as I’m not getting your response. So, let me repeat my question here: could you explain why you refuse to accept the payment via “send money” PP option while it is absolutely legit method to pay also for the purchase? Or alternatively why you just don’t issue regular payment request?
I’m really sorry to bother you. As I said before, I really wouldn’t insist on buying your plug-in, if I only had any other option tested with my theme. Unfortunately, that’s not a case now and I’m left with very limited time for language localization. Therefore I would highly appreciate your cooperation in solving this strange and embarrasing situation.
Most templates work fine with WPML. I would advise you to try it and if something doesn’t work open a new support ticket in our forum.
If it still doesn’t work, remember that you have 30 days to ask for a refund.
I want to have English to English, in addition to the other languages. The reason is sometimes we want to change words or phrases that are given in English to things more specific to our audience and site personality. Can we do that with WPML?
Does this support LearnDash? They use custom post types, for lessons and topics. If a page uses video, and we have two versions of the same video, does WPML support this?
I’m using Poedit, to create different languages, and translate text inside theme. Question: Can I load those translations if I have Multilingual Blog Licence or I need Multilingual CMS Licence?
We have several differnet brands using wordpress. I wanted to know if I bought the multilingual agency should I be to use the one on each different site or do I have to buy it for each hosted domain we have.
Hello Jamie,
with the “Multilingual Agency” package you will be able to register WPML on multiple domains, for multiple clients. No need to buy a separate one for each.
Hi,
I’d like to know if the translations are done automatically by detecting the visitors’ location or if the user has to click on a scroll down menu and select their language manually
Hello Nicolas,
WPML doesn’t translate automatically, at least not in the way you would expect. Let me explain.
WPML provides you with the interface to make your WP-based site multilingual. If you are editing page A, you will have a button to create the page in another language but you need to provide the content.
If you would like to use machine translations, you can do that too using WPML but you will need to approve the translations manually.
Then, when the end user visits your site, he/she will click on the language switcher and will see a give page/post in his/her language. But please note that multilingual sites attract organic traffic in the user’s language. And in this case, they will land immediately on the page in their language.
Hi, I was thinking about buying WPML. I have a Woocommerce online store in WordPress 4.9.9 already published.
1. I would like to know if it is compatible with the Gecko template.
2. Also if installing WPML can you automatically translate the different sections and the entire online store? thank you and I await your response
Hello, I’m looking at the prices… Didn’t you guys use to have an one time payment option? That is to pay an enormous amount of money and not be bother with recurring fees afterwards.
These are yearly subscriptions but renewals are optional. If you don’t renew, you can still use the plugins that you have installed/downloaded but you will lose access to our support forum and future releases.
Where can I get the WPML? I subscribed and uploaded the available plugins to my WP site, but they “need WPML” in order to work. So where can I get this?
Hello Ulla,
Please log in to your account and go to Downloads page https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ to download WPML Multilingual CMS.
Let me know of any further question.
Hello there,
if your current subscription is still active, you’ll pay the difference in the purchase price. Please log into your WPML account and you will see your options.
My client wants to purchase a WPML license using their credit-card, but does NOT want to create a PayPal account. Currently it seems like this is not possible, however. Are we overlooking an option? And if not, would it be possible in the near future to pay via just a credit-card?
Kind regards,
Thanks for your quick response. Both my client and myself completely overlooked this option, twice! :/ Might be because we focussed too much on the term ‘credit card’ in ‘Credit card / PayPal account’. But now we know :). Thanks again.
Hello Mehak,
I am afraid we have stopped supporting non-profits for now. We continue to support the existing ones in our system but we cannot take new ones. You are welcome to buy WPML and try it for 30 days. If it does not suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
I need to create a multilingual webshop with Woocommerce.
I need to publish each product in 2 diferrent language with different currency per language and with different prices (means not automatically calculated) per language.
Is this supported by your plugin, and if yes, which version I need to subscribe?
I am making a site for a client. I have created it in English with Generate Press and Elementor Pro. I have tried Polylang, but I think WPML will be better.
The site will be managed by a Hebrew speaker. The other languages will be English and Russian. Since Hebrew is a rtl language, should I just use the English site as the default and Hebrew as one of the languages?
or
Should I upload a rtl WP version (or change to rtl for the whole site) and then recreate everything and then put in WPML for English and Russian? What would be best? I just tried out the rtl test plug in – but I think it would end up affecting the whole site, and then English and Russian will not work.
The Russian translator may not speak English – will she be able to see the Hebrew screen when doing her translation?

Hi Jo,
Problem solved and mail answered earlier today.
And one more hint. Please make sure you have enough money to be converted to USD dollars. I don’t know what country are you from.

Can we use the plugin for multilingual websites that have different domains
For example:
abc.com (English)
abc.co.kr (Korean)
I want all the pages between these two websites can be links to each other using the current plugin.
Thank you,
Shawn N
Hello, Yes WPML can serve different languages from different domains or sub-domains. For this to work, some setup is required on your web server.
You can find the detailed how-to tutorial about this topic in our blog post about how to use WPML with different domains per language:
https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
Hi, I asked a question before but i can find it in the forum to follow up the answer. Got an email with this LINK to rspond;

I was told wpml is a plugin but I cant find it when searchin in wp market. How can I install?
You need to buy WPML first and then log into your WPML account and download the plugin from there and go to Plugins -> Add new and upload the zip.
What are all the languages they have?
Hello,
here is the list of preconfigured languages: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/ If your language is not on the list, you can add it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
I want to have English to English, in addition to the other languages. The reason is sometimes we want to change words or phrases that are given in English to things more specific to our audience and site personality. Can we do that with WPML?
Hello John,
you can. In that case, you can need to register the other English languages manually and use the hreflang tags. Please check this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/adding-hreflang-wordpress/#check-your-hreflang-settings-and-make-sure-they-are-as-you-intend-them-to-be
Does this support LearnDash? They use custom post types, for lessons and topics. If a page uses video, and we have two versions of the same video, does WPML support this?
Allen
Hello,
yes, we are compatible with LearnDash: https://wpml.org/plugin/learndash-lms/
Hi,
I’m using Poedit, to create different languages, and translate text inside theme. Question: Can I load those translations if I have Multilingual Blog Licence or I need Multilingual CMS Licence?

The po files are handled by WPML String Translation which is part of the CMS package.
We have several differnet brands using wordpress. I wanted to know if I bought the multilingual agency should I be to use the one on each different site or do I have to buy it for each hosted domain we have.
Hello Jamie,

Hello Pat,
No, we don’t but you can cancel your subscription anytime. Simply press “cancel” in your WPML account and we won’t charge you again.

Thank you
Hello there,

Do you offer a special price for WPML for non-profits or charities?
Hello,
I’m sorry we don’t. We one and the same offer for everyone. But thanks for asking.

Hello Jozsef,
Yes you can do this with WPML- You will need the CMS including our WooCommerce Multilingual plugin https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/

It doesn’t matter which way you do it. If your theme supports RTL correctly then WPML will take care of switch to RTL accordingly.
On the other hand, each user can choose their language in their profile. Just assign the Russian language to the Russian translator.
