Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to fallback to a secondary language if there is no content available in the main language.
I understand that if the main content is not translated WPML will fallback to default language, but in our case many people will be publishing content on our website in different languages. I would like to be sure that if the content hasn’t been translated in the default language it will still show in every version of the website.
Typically, the website is in French by default, someone publish an article in English without French equivalent. Will this article show (in English) in the French version ?
WPML and the solution provided doesn’t work as expected. As stated before I need the content to fallback to French in the English version when there is no translation AND to English in the French version if there is only English content (and no translation to the default French language).
For the sake of example, what I wish to obtain is something similar to what is offered by Polylang synchronization ( https://polylang.pro/doc/synchronized-posts/ ). I cannot manage to get this result with the explanation you provided, can you please walk me through ?
Hello Mathieu,
I can give you a hint but I’m not familiar with your specific setup and so I suggest you open a ticket in our support forum where you can get proper help.
So, if you have your page in non-primary language with the equivalent in the original language, you would need to open it in the editor -> Document -> Language and use the duplicate option.
Could you please use our support forum to follow up?
1. Log into your WPML account.
2. Go to this link: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
3. Type in something in the search.
4. Then click the orange button at the bottom of the page to open a new thread.

Hello,
when you translate Divi with one of our editors (we recommend the ATE editor because it provides machine translations which can speed up the process of translating), all texts will be shown and you need to provide the translation. The same Divi layout will be used for both language versions. If you would like to create a separate layout it should be possible too but you would need to give up using the translation editor and recreate the whole layout in your second language and maintain two separate layouts, which might be difficult.
Hello Pedro,
It depends on what you want to translate. The Blog version gives you access to translate pages and posts only. For other elements of your site you will need the CMS version https://wpml.org/purchase/
We are about to buy an Avada theme to build a new website and want to also buy and install the WPML plugin so that we can manually translate our site to Japanese (not very many pages). We are planning to do this in-house and don’t have a developer. Do we need a lot of coding experience to get WPML integrated and working with Avada?
Also is the Multilingual CMS $79 yearly package the total price? Do the add-ons like String translation cost more?
Hello, we are in the process of moving our site to wordpress and like your translation plugin. However, I would like to see if you have a demo that we can try before purchasing to test to make sure it will work with our use case?
Dear David,
Thanks for your interest. I am afraid we do not offer free trials of WPML. You are welcome to try our plugin and if it does not suit your needs we will refund you. You have until 30 days to do it https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/.
How do I use your plugin to create mobile drop downs like CaliforniaClosets.com at the request of a client? Those dynamic hover menus with calls to action for mobile are what I am looking for. We found your brand in the source code and wondered if your plugin would do this.
Hello Adam,
in which source code did you find WPML plugins? You say “How do I use your plugin to create mobile drop downs” – are you sure it’s a WPML related question? WPML plugins don’t create mobile dropdown. They help you turn your WP site into multilingual one. I’ll be happy to answer your questions but I need to understand your context better.
Hi there,
I wonder if yearly renewals will apply automatically every year and charge the renewal fee from my initial payment method?
Also, what would happen if I decided not to renew the service?
I have purchased the WPML Multilingual Agency service an hour ago, but I couldn’t receive the email. I’ve already tried to reset the email twice, but still, it doesn’t work. Could you check for me? Thanks

We need to purchase this plugin. Kindly let us know these:
1. Do you have API support to sync data from ERP to WooCommerce or can you help us in developing the API?
2. Does it support multisite?
3. Can we have different sub directories for different languages for the same site?
4. Can we manually set multilingual menus, pages, posts and website content etc?
Hello,
1. No, we don’t have anything special and we cannot help you to develop the API. You might want to try one of our consultants, best would find someone who specializes in WooCommerce and is a programmer, for example, https://wpml.org/contractors/wpmagus-pl/
2. Yes, we do.
3. Yes, you can.
4. I’m not sure what you mean by “manually set multilingual menus, pages, posts and website content “. By default, WPML doesn’t translate anything automatically. You provide the translations. We offer machine translations too, which can be updated by you.
“Can I manually translate 4 Home pages for 4 languages?”
I’m a bit confused because the homepage is usually only one… But yes, using WPML you can translate your homepage to 4 other languages and yes, you can do it manually.
We don’t provide geolocation detection. We have an option (it’s disabled by default) to allow WPML to detect your user’s language set in his/her browser and switch the language automatically according to it.
Really grateful to you for your help. We are just one step away from purchasing the plugin. We are a WooCommerce B2B Development company and in future may partner with your for more client projects.
My only concern is API. We want to send translated products data from SAP to WooCommerce. At least can your support team help with the WPML database structure so that we can develop the API?
These tables are used by WPML to “link” translated content but all content is stored in the same tables as the original posts/pages. So, posts, pages, and custom post types are stored in the “wp_posts” table, taxonomies, in the taxonomies tables, etc.
Hello,
I have a production and a test version of my website. I also need to have WPML and all associated extensions installed on this test website.
Hi Isabelle,
You can register the test site first and then remove the url and register the production site when it’s ready. You can remove and add urls as many times as you need it, as long as the subscription is active.

Hi,
I would like to know what happens if I don’t renew my WPML plan after 1 year? Will the features that I edited in the first year remain the same, or will they be canceled?
Will my visitors still be able to switch between the languages if I cancel the plan?
Hello Marten,

Second question
Can you isolate the languages of the countries configured in WPML to locations in Google Search Console?
Third question
Do the translated pages all have a unique URL or does the translation all occur on the same URL?
1. At the moment that you select a different devise with our WooCommerce Multilingual, you will see how your product price change from that moment until the final checkout. Thus, the user will always see the selected currency and does not have to wait for any conversion at the end of the process: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#using-multiple-currencies

Could you let me know in advance what I need to do to avoid anything breaking on the site once I upgrade to the latest WPML version?
Hello Nathan,
I suggest that, once you have purchased the subscription, you ask for help in the forum, where the tech team will take a look at your site and be able to assist you properly.
Hello Marília,
If you don’t pay for the renewal fee, you can keep using the files and the translation as they are installed on your site but you will no longer receive updates and support.
We are going to build a website, we are planning to have a production site and a staging site (not open to public).
We plan to install this plugin to staging site first, if it works as expected, then we will install it in our production site. With this setting, does it count as only 1 site or 2 sites?
We also plan to refresh the staging site and duplicate it from production site. Will it affect our license?
Hello Simon,
If you want to have both sites (production and test ones) be registered all the time, then you will need two separate registration keys. But registration is required only for updates so you can unregister the test one after finishing your work.
“We also plan to refresh the staging site and duplicate it from production site. Will it affect our license?”
Yes, a bit, because the registration key will work only for a specific domain. So if you duplicate your site to a new domain without regenerating the key for that new domain, you won’t be able to update your WPML plugins directly from your WordPress admin.
Thank you for your reply. A few more questions before making the decision.
1. In our case, we should buy the “Multilingual CMS” package, right?
2. Our site is not launched yet, but we have a temporary domain name, which could be changed once a while, specially the staging site, the temporary domain name could be changed more frequent, can we update the registration key? Do we have a limit for using a registration key on a different temporary domain name or is there a lmimit for regenerating the key for that new domain?
3. After refresh the staging site and duplicate it from production site, without regenerating the key for that new domain, I understand that I won’t be able to update my WPML plugins directly from your WordPress admin, but the plugins still work, am I understand it correctly?
1. Yes, and the Multilingual CMS package is the one we recommend also for other reasons.
2. Yes, no problem at all. You can unregister your domain and register a new one anytime. It’s a few clicks but you need to do it both in your WPML account and then grab the new key and copy-paste it to your site (Plugins -> Add new -> Commercial tab).
3. Yes, you understand it correctly.
I have 2 language in my website, Turkish and English…
When i add Product (one Product but 2 picture one is Turkish other one is English…)
When Turkish Language Selected (Default)
Product Name : AAA Turkish Product Name
Product Picture Name : AAA-Turkish-Product-Name.png
When English Language Selected
Product Name : AAA English Product Name
Product Picture Name : AAA-English-Product-Name.png
I want to Show Turkish Product Picture name in background… If customer select English page… then they must see English Product Picture name too…. Is it possible for each language to show language related product picture ?
Hello, in general, WPML allows you to translate product images (or provide separate images for each of your languages) but you are mentioning a product picture name in background and I’m not sure what you mean here. What is background in your case? Please provide more details.

For a prospect, I must consider the migration of a multi-language site made with drupal7 to wordpress.
The site contains dozens of articles and 7 languages including 2 complete (French, English) but also for the home page (Russian, Chinese …).
Will it work properly with the basic blog version?

Hello,
Is it possible to hide certain blocks/elements in the Divi-builder, when using WPML.
There are some less relevant blocks for other languages, so I would like to hide them in the translated page.
Looking forward to your reply!
Hello Ruud,
You can choose what to translate and what not with WPML. Check this article https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/divi-builder/

Hello Pedro,
yes, you can upgrade to CMS later for the difference in the purchase price between those two packages.

Third question

Thanks,
Stu
Hello Stu,
I’ll try to answer your questions:
1. At the moment that you select a different devise with our WooCommerce Multilingual, you will see how your product price change from that moment until the final checkout. Thus, the user will always see the selected currency and does not have to wait for any conversion at the end of the process:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#using-multiple-currencies
2. I’m not sure to follow you, but WPML allows you to create your own languages in case you need a customized setup:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
3. Every translation page will have its own database entry, thus its own page and unique URL.
Regards,
Andrés

If you want to have both sites (production and test ones) be registered all the time, then you will need two separate registration keys. But registration is required only for updates so you can unregister the test one after finishing your work.
“We also plan to refresh the staging site and duplicate it from production site. Will it affect our license?”
Yes, a bit, because the registration key will work only for a specific domain. So if you duplicate your site to a new domain without regenerating the key for that new domain, you won’t be able to update your WPML plugins directly from your WordPress admin.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Thank you.
Simon
Hello,
Hello,
I have 2 language in my website, Turkish and English…
When i add Product (one Product but 2 picture one is Turkish other one is English…)
When Turkish Language Selected (Default)
Product Name : AAA Turkish Product Name
Product Picture Name : AAA-Turkish-Product-Name.png
When English Language Selected
Product Name : AAA English Product Name
Product Picture Name : AAA-English-Product-Name.png
I want to Show Turkish Product Picture name in background… If customer select English page… then they must see English Product Picture name too…. Is it possible for each language to show language related product picture ?
Hello, in general, WPML allows you to translate product images (or provide separate images for each of your languages) but you are mentioning a product picture name in background and I’m not sure what you mean here. What is background in your case? Please provide more details.
Hervé
For a prospect, I must consider the migration of a multi-language site made with drupal7 to wordpress.
The site contains dozens of articles and 7 languages including 2 complete (French, English) but also for the home page (Russian, Chinese …).
Will it work properly with the basic blog version?
Regards
Hello
After you migrate your site to WordPress you can use WPML with any number of languages, regardless of the version you use. The Blog version gives you access install the core plugin on one site only. If you need to translate more than posts and pages you will need the CMS version. Check these articles

Kind regards,
Do you still offer the CMS Lifetime package?
And does your plugin offer the ability to connect with the Google Translate API ?
Hello Rene,
I am afraid the answer is NO to both questions. We only sell yearly subscriptions. Our automatic translation service is linked to Microsfot, not Google https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/
