We need to get the plugin to automatically translate our Elementor landing pages based on user’s location (IP). I understand we need to get the $79 plan to get WPML to work with Elementor?
Hi Steve,
Your friend would need to test it, since this may be caused by multiple factors. I suggest they try it and if needed, ask for help in our forum. If it still doesn’t work we can refund them https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/. They have until 30 days to do it.
one more question, for example, we buy the Multilingual CMS for 79$, use it 2 years without updates and support and then decide to have them, will the annual fee still be 59$ or we will have to pay 79$ ?
I don’t know what you mean by “destination items”. Are those items coming from a plugin? A theme?
Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. We provide machine translations too but you need to choose which content to send to translation and apply machine translations manually as explained in this video:
I bought a plugin in 2016, but needed now for my new website. Is it possible to use it with an support update but with an cheaper payment? I bought it already.
It does not specify on https://wpml.org/purchase/ whether Multilingual Blog plan allows Automatic Translation at all. My website will not be modifying the content for most part, and I only have 1. I just needs automatic translation the first time, and there is no need for me to have 2000 words for every month.
Hello,
In our pricing table, there is a row that says “Automatic (machine) translation” and it’s unchecked for the Blog column, which means you cannot benefit from machine translations when you have the Blog package. I understand what you mean by saying that you need automatic translations only at the beginning but please note that to use the machine translation you need to enable the ATE editor first and this is possible when you install the Translation Management plugin, which is available only in the CMS package.
Hello,
yes, it’s possible but details will depend on how your homepage is built (if you are using WordPress blocks, a page builder, something else ect).
But basically, the idea is to create a “copy” of this page in another language, duplicate the stuff you want to keep and provide a translated version of those elements that required translation.
We have a 17 website network in multisite configuration.
Each site is a different domain configuratoin but all are included in the same multisite network.
My questions is do i need to purchase a liscense for each domain or i can install it as network plugin?
You can install WPML as a network plugin (actually it will be more than one plugin) and register only the main domain. In other words, the Multilimgual CMS package that allows you to register up to 3 sites will suffice in your case (you will need to use only one key because it’s WordPress Multisite).
I’m trying to understand if WPML is a good option for me, or if I need to set up a multisite. Here’s what I need to do:
– Create a main website, complete with ecommerce capabilities (using woocommerce).
– Create 9 different versions of that website in 9 different languages. I need each of those versions to be accessible via a subdomain. For instance, if the main website is example.com, the French version would be fr.example.com.
– Here’s where it gets tricky. We sell consumer technology, which has different requirements, product descriptions, and product images for different subdomains. For instance, the product sold in France will be slightly different than the product sold in the US. So, the page for the US version of “Product X” will need to have a different description and images than the French version of Product X. Additionally, some of the countries will offer ecommerce capabilities on the site, while others will just link to the product on Amazon.
– I’d also like to give offices in some countries the ability to edit their subdomain (without touching the other domains.)
Is this something I can accomplish with WPML, or do I need to set up a multisite?
Hello Steve,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. WPML is compatible with WooCommerce which means that you can translate your products to other languages.
2. By default, WPML uses languages for folders. If you want to use subdomains instead, it will require some additional work to be done on your server as explained here: https://wpml.org/tutorials/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
3. Providing different product images and descriptions per language is part of product translation, so this is shouldn’t be any problem.
Regarding this part: “Additionally, some of the countries will offer ecommerce capabilities on the site, while others will just link to the product on Amazon.”
WPML just allows you to translate your pages, posts, products (etc). What you are describing here is about how your site functions and I don’t know how those links to Amazon are stored on your site. Is a link a part of your product description? Is this a part of your homepage?
4. I’d also like to give offices in some countries the ability to edit their subdomain.
Controlling access privileges is out of the scope of WPML.
Please tell me does WPML support sharing the same slug across a category or post in different languages as Polylang Pro does? I mean what they refer to as “Translations can share the same slug in the URL” here https://polylang.pro/downloads/polylang-pro/.
I posted a pre-sales question here on the forum, but now I can’t find it, what’s going on?
I asked if WPML supports sharing the same slug across a category or post in different languages as Polylang Pro does? I mean the feature that they name as “Translations can share the same slug in the URL”.
Hello,
When you are a business, registered in the EU and have a VAT number and you entered it to our checkout page when buying WPML, we won’t charge you VAT.
Thank you for your reply, I tried again and it worked out. Must have only entered it when generating the invoice, but not when making the purchase the first time.
Hi
I do not need to translate my site into different languages (one language is fine). What I do need is for users to be able to select a country-specific version of the site, so that when they choose their country flag, only applicable-to-their-country products are shown to them and also in their own specific curency. For example, my site serves Latin America (all countries Spanish, so no need to translate) but when someone from Argentina selects their country, only certain products are displayed and in his curency.
However, WooCommerce Multilingual handles your WooCommerce shop as if it were a unique shop, thus, it expects to display the same products in all languages and it does not provide a geolocation feature to hide or display products.
I am occasionally asked to design pages using visual bakery, or write page templates with unique functionality. Does WPML support adding translations to visual bakery or with php?
Additionally, is there a hook for telling what language the page is currently in?
I am considering to get the plugin… but i have a simple 10 page cms site and no using as a blog, the $29 starting package will make it? it is a simple site, and I need people to have the option to select their native language and it will be translate automatically. Also in this starting package do I need to do the translation for the whole site or it will do it by itself.
Hello Dan,
if your site is just a simple blog, you can start from the “Blog” package. If it turns out that you need to use some addons from our “CMS” package, you can upgrade to “CMS” for the difference in the purchase price. WPML won’t translate your content automatically. We provide machine translations (you would need to have the “CMS” package) but they need to be applied to your content by your action, as explained in this video: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/
Hi, we already have a website translated with the 1st plan (29$) and we now require to translate a second website and are thinking of purchasing the 79$ plan. Will this by any chance affect the current website we have translated?
Hello,
No, this won’t affect your site at all. To upgrade your account to the CMS version, log in and you will see a link to do it for the difference only.
I searching for a plugin to translate the metadata and meta tags like title, description etc..
The website is already multilanguage, but only the dynamic data is translated. There are flags, subdirectories etc., but the title and description is not translated. For better SEO optimization I need to translate those.
Is this possible with WPML? Or will this conflict?

Hi Piotr. That’s correct, you need the $79 plan in your case.
What if I purchase it and don’t want to renew is lthe plugin going to stop working
No, it won’t stop working but you will lose access to our forum and new releases.
My friend uses your plugin but all child pages that are attached to a parent go to 404 pages. Will purchasing the plugin fix this?
I set up a new blank parent and a new child page to test and had the same 404. Don’t want to suggest purchasing to them if it’s not going to work.
Hi Steve,
Your friend would need to test it, since this may be caused by multiple factors. I suggest they try it and if needed, ask for help in our forum. If it still doesn’t work we can refund them https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/. They have until 30 days to do it.

For single website, i need support for all these plugin.

Gravity Forms Multilingual
WPML CMS Nav
WPML Media
WPML Multilingual CMS
WPML Sticky Links
WPML String Translation
WPML Translation Management
If i go for “Multilingual Blog” plan, it will support all the plugins.
Hello,
You need the CMS package. The Blog package won’t suffice in this case.
Hi,
do you have an offer on WPML with all functions for 2 websites?
Yes, the Multilingual CMS package is the one (you don’t need to install it on 3 sites but only on 2).
Hi Agnes,
thank you for the prompt reply. So the price for 2 -3 websites is 79 $ (unchangeable ) ?
If we do not update the plugin in a year, will it still work (all the functions)?
Hi Julia,
If you do not pay for the renewal you can keep using the files but without updates or support.
The price to register up to 3 sites is 79$
Best,
Hi Mercedes,
one more question, for example, we buy the Multilingual CMS for 79$, use it 2 years without updates and support and then decide to have them, will the annual fee still be 59$ or we will have to pay 79$ ?
Thank you in advance
If you do not renew in time you will lose the disocunt and will have to pay for the 79$ again.

Hi, you will find this set of plugins in the CMS package (not Blog).
Hi,
I need your plugin to translate destination items and Slider revolution sliders, is it possible on my site?
P.S. this is draft version of a site
Hello,
WPML works with the Revolution Slider:
https://wpml.org/plugin/slider-revolution/
I don’t know what you mean by “destination items”. Are those items coming from a plugin? A theme?

Hello, I can see your subscription expired in 2017 so you can no longer benefit from the discount we offer for our clients.
Hi WPML Team,
Is it possible to use pay-as-you-use automatic translation in $29 plan – https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
It does not specify on https://wpml.org/purchase/ whether Multilingual Blog plan allows Automatic Translation at all. My website will not be modifying the content for most part, and I only have 1. I just needs automatic translation the first time, and there is no need for me to have 2000 words for every month.

Hey I am a prospective buyer – I want to know if on the different language pages I will be able to change just one item or keep one item the same
– for example on the spanish version of “home” i want to keep some images as they are and replace others for the spanish speaking market
While in other pages I want to translate just the text but to keep the media content the same.
Is this possible to manage with your plugin?

Hi
I want to use WPML for my website fr manual translation. Is it possible that users will see the website in their language based on IP or country?
Thanks!
Hello,
WPML has a feature (it’s disabled by default) to detect the user language according to their settings in the browser.
Hello,
Please tell me does WPML support sharing the same slug across a category or post in different languages as Polylang Pro does? I mean what they refer to as “Translations can share the same slug in the URL” here https://polylang.pro/downloads/polylang-pro/.
Yes, you can use the same category/page/post slug for different languages.
Great! Thanks!

Your previous comment was awaiting moderation. I have just replied.
I’m in the process of purchasing a license from The Netherlands, but have a question about VAT while the purchase is pending.
As I understand from our national tax office, on the invoice it should mention ‘Reverse-charged’, rather than actually charging VAT.
Could you enlighten me and explain how to best proceed?
Thank you in advance for your support!

Hello Benito,
This can partially be achieved with WPML. I mean, you can add a currency per country as explained in the following documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/multi-currency-support-woocommerce/
However, WooCommerce Multilingual handles your WooCommerce shop as if it were a unique shop, thus, it expects to display the same products in all languages and it does not provide a geolocation feature to hide or display products.

Andrés
If I have links in my site to PDF files to be downloaded and filled in by client. Will your plugin translate those PDF files into French?
I’m trying to decide between your plugin and Weglot !!!!!!
Thank you.
Hello Carl,
Depending on how you have added those PDF links, you should be able to translate them and add a different link per language. In that way you can provide a different PDF file to your clients.

Hi,
Does it translate the Slider Revolution slides content ?
Thanks.
WPML allows you to make the content of the Slider Revolution slides multilingual (we are compatible) but it doesn’t translate it automatically.
Hello,
I have just bought the Multilingual CMS for 79 $. Though I added the VAT Number and the company name, the VAT was charged. Can you fix it?
Hi Julia,
I see your mail about this. I will get back to you there shortly.

Hello,
we are compatible with the WPBakery Page Builder plugin:
https://wpml.org/plugin/wpbakery-page-builder/
This page explains how you translate stuff created with this plugin:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/how-to-build-multilingual-sites-with-wpbakery-page-builder-and-wpml/
>is there a hook for telling what language the page is currently in?

Hello Hans,
Yes, you can do this with WPML
