  1. Want to add Japanese Language along with English on my restaurant website.
Which is the best suggested package of WPML for the same. The theme we are using in Nigri : https://nigiri.qodeinteractive.com/
To convert the homepage, and other pages we need to make separate pages in Japanese language?
Or we will be given translation option in the same page itself? please clear this.

Also if we do not renew the package will be tanslation done on website be lost?
Can’t we translate a new page later on? please confirm.

    Thanks
    Harshit

    • Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
If you need automatic translation, the Multilingual CMS package is the best option. Automatic translations can be also edited manually if you want to improve the quality of the translation manually. Of course, you can also mix the translations – sometimes use manual translation, sometimes automatic. WPML provides full flexibility.
Your site needs to have only one primary language: English or Japanese. Let’s say your site’ primary language is English. If you install WPML, you will add Japanise as the secondary language. Then, WPML will ask you if you want to use the “Translate Everything” mode or “Translate Some”. If you choose Translate Everything, WPML will automatically translate all your English pages and create Japanise pages for all of them. If you select “Translate Some”, you will be manually selecting which pages to translate. If you choose “Translate Some” you can still use machine translations (and make manual edits if needed).

Your theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team but when I look at their page here: https://themeforest.net/item/nigiri-a-modern-restaurant-wordpress-theme/22298102 it says that it is compatible with WPML so it should work okay.

If you don’t renew the package you can keep both your translations and the plugin but you won’t be getting new versions of WPML and you won’t be able to open new support tickets/chats.

      I hope that helps.

  2. Hello. I am currently using translatepress and i would like to switch to your plugin. Please answer the following questions.
    1. I use subfolders for other languages, for example worldcitytrail.com/de or/fr for each language. If i switch to yours, will these folders remain?
    2. Will the already existing translations and translated strings remain?
    3. Will anything you know from your experience change?
    4. What should i will be aware of?
    5. Will this change hurt my SEO ?
    6. I have a specific setting saying that the /product in the links is not translated, but the slug is translated. Is it the same with your plugin? Will those settings stay after the change?

    • Hello Alex,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. WPML provides you with the option to keep languages in subfolders but these subfolders are “virtual” and are created by WPML. If you switch to WPML it’s recommended that you don’t have existing subfolders because these might conflict with WPML’s ones
      2. If you are switching to WPML, it’s recommended to use only one multilingual plugin. We don’t provide any migration plugin from Translatepress to WPML so if you really want to keep your existing translations, you would need manually handle them to be managed by WPML
      3. WPML and Translatepress work differently so they way you work with translations will change.
      4. Ideally, it would be best if you create a copy of your site and try out WPML on a copy first. This way you can ask our technical supporter for help if you get stuck with something. It will also allows you to understand how WPML works.
      5. WPML doesn’t change/touch your posts and pages in your site’s primary language so these won’t change and won’t affect SEO. For translations (translated page), it depends. If you keep the same URLs (slugs), SEO won’t be affected. For example, say your site has a contact page in English and your current translation for German is yoursitedomain.com/de/kontakt/ If you set up WPML with subfolders for languages and when translating WPML you create a contact page in German with the title/slug “kontakt” nothing will change for search engines because the URL didn’t change.
      6. I guess you are intersted in this option: https://cdn.wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/post-types-translation.jpg – this screenshot comes from https://wpml.org/changelog/2018/01/wpml-3-9-released/

  3. Hi

I want to purchase a translation plugin for the website.
It is a large company and our procurement process requires having docs with the agreement from the vendors, and DPA terms doc.

Do you have such documents that you can send me?

  4. Hi, so we had a hosting previously with our site, which was cancelled and an entirely new site was launched, the details of the wpml key is also lost with the deletion of the site, and since we are unable to get the info from the previous developer is there something you can do to restore or find the account based on the website?

anything you can do to help out would be much appreciated.

    Thank you. 🙂

    • Hi Amir,
please let me know why you would still need an account that was canceled and the site – as you say – was deleted. You can buy WPML anew with your email. Please help me understand your case.

  5. Hi, I am considering buying WPLM Blog for 39$ For my website.
I am going to translate everything myself. It’s a one-pager.

Is it possible to translate images(Switch images based on the language) with this version as well?

    I hope you can help
    -Andreas 🙂

    • Hello Andreas,
depends on how you understand translating images. If you want to translate your site manually using the WordPress native editor you can provide a different image for your translated page/post. Yes, the Blog package allows you to translate your content manually. But please note that if you are using page builders, the Blog package won’t suffice.

  7. Hi, I wanted to know what happens if you exceed the translation credits you have? Would we need to purchase an additional license?

  8. I want to buy the agency plugin.
How does the automatic translation work for the different websites. Can i manage the number of credit for each website seperatly?

  9. I am still using qTranslate-X to create a multi-language site, and I translated all the posts, pages and FAQ manually from Dutch to English
I like to change to WPML.
My WP- theme is Generate press.

What are the steps for me to take?
-copy all the English text manually
    -uninstall qTranslate-X
    -install WPML
    -add the English texts manually
    ??

    Is my theme compatable?
Is WPML also creating my FAQ and posts in two languages?
Can I redirect my url (ending with: ?lang=en)?

I am nervous to make the step.
Can you give me advise and tips?

    kindest regards,
    Barbara

  10. interested in purchasing the agency option .. Need to ask if it is a one-time deal or will I be paying 199 yearly .. as it says 1 year support and update

  11. Hi!
We have a question: in our current website (not WP), translations are managed via phrase.com. We are preparing to migrate to WordPress.

A useful feature of Phrase is that, when an update is made to an item in one language, the item in the other languages displays a sign that indicates that the translation needs to be updated.
    Does WPML provide that ?

    Thank you,

    Alexandre

  12. Hello,

I would like to test how well your plugin automatically translates my website in order to buy it if it does it correctly.

Specifically I want to see if your plugin translates from this page:

The game table type listing containing mostly the table header from Spanish to English, in the columns “Categoria juego”, “Características del juego”, etc. and that this would automatically translate correctly completely along with the foldables.
    https://gamesplaytoearn.com/web/

I would also like to see this page as far as it does the form is fully translated:
    https://gamesplaytoearn.com/web/alta-nuevo-juego/

    Thank you

    Translated with http://www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

    • Hello,
WPML can translate sites automatically and it’s integrated with DeepL.
      Hello Luis,
I can see that your site uses the Astra theme and WPML is compatible with this theme. Could you please let me know which plugin you used to implement the table (ÚLTIMOS JUEGOS INCORPORADOS).
Please also let me know which plugin you use to handle the form:
      https://gamesplaytoearn.com/web/alta-nuevo-juego/
I need to check if these plugins are compatible with WPML. Thank you.

    • You can also use your credit card. On the “checkout” page you will see a link entitled “Use a different payment processor” (at the bottom of the page, under the orange button). Please click on it and then you will be able to can enter your card number.

    • Hello,
$99 is the cost for the first year. If you decide to renew your WPML for the next year, you will get 25% off discount for the nest year. Renewals are optional.

  13. Hello,

It does not work to “Reply” in your reply, I write my reply here.

The two plugins that can give problems with translations that I would like to hear from you are:
Which you can see in the table at the top:
    https://gamesplaytoearn.com/web/
    the plugin is:
    Posts Table Pro
    https://barn2.com/wordpress-plugins/posts-table-pro/

The fomrular creator that integrates with Pods that you can see in:
    https://gamesplaytoearn.com/web/alta-nuevo-juego/
    the plugin is:
    Bit Form Pro
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bit-form/

These I have tested for example with the plugin Gtranslate and they work correctly, at the moment you can see it in our web in the sections that I indicated previously.

    Thanks for everything.
    luis

    • Thank you. We are compatible with the Posts Table Pro but our Compatibility Team never checked the Bit Form Pro plugin and we might not be compatible with that. Form plugins usually require special cooperation with the plugin author to make it compatible with WPML. So you might expect some incompatibility issues when translating your site with WPML.

  14. If I purchase the CMS package for three sites, is the license for each site valid for one year from the time of purchase, or for each site independently from the time they are actually activated? I am preparing only one site at the moment, but need the features that are not included in the Blog version.

    • Hello,
you can register and unregister the sites at any time and you can do it as long as your WPML subscription is active. Say you buy the CMS package today. You can register your first site on October 16, 2022, the second site on November 28, 2022 and the third one on October 5, 2023. If you cancel your subscription in a year (October 6, 2023) you can still use WPML on all these 3 sites you registered before but you won’t be able to register any new sites later even if you unregistered one of those sites.

  15. This price can be used for life, but if we want to renew it every year, we still need to pay the same price every year, right?

    • Hello, yes, you are almost correct. Let me share more details.

Once you buy WPML, you can use WPML plugins for as long as you want (the versions you installed) but if you want to have access to new versions, you need to renew it yearly. For the next years you pay less (you get 25% discount per year). You can cancel your WPML subscription at any time. Please note that you also need to have an active subscription to register WPML on new sites. So let’s say you bought WPML today and you registered it for one site today and for another one 7 months later. Then in December 2023, you want to register the 3rd site but you didn’t renew your WPML subscription. You won’t be able to use WPML on that 3rd site but you can still use WPML on the first two sites you registered within the first year.

  16. Hello,

We are interested in Multilingual CMS and we have a doubt: it says that it’s valid for 3 webs (production), so if we have 1 URL translated in 4 languages (www.url.com/es , http://www.url.com/en , http://www.url.com/fr , http://www.url.com/uk), could we use Multilingual CMS for our 4 languages or not because you consider we have 4 webs?

And if we could not use Multilingual CMS in our 4 languages, what solution would you propose?

    Many thanks!

  17. Hello!

I’m trying to understand if your product and get better grasp of how it works before we might invest in it.

Both as far as paying your company for it and how much is on our expense of man power required as translation projects usually requires both our time and our human capital to successfully carry out the whole project.

So here is my pre-purchase questions:

1.) Does it dynamically generate all the required pages in each language or do you have to create basically a copy in all intended languages for each page?

2.) If so, then you need to maintain XYZ versions of the original page/pages manually (Which can/might be very time consuming)?

3.) When creating a new page/blog post in the system (We also run WordPress Multisite), will you have to create the other pages/blog post too manually or will a new page be dynamically/automatically generated in each language?

4.) As we mentioned in bullet point 3; we do run WPMU are you counting each site as an individual site which requires a license or is it per domain name?

5.) Our WPMU system is only used for our corporate website and portals for our company. Do sub-domains installed (E.g. careeers.domain.com, support.domain.com), count as one site or (Main root domain is on the system too of course)?

6.) Is there required a WPMU specific license to use it in a WPMU system?

7.) A -How does your product handle having different languages on the corresponding language’s national TLD work out?
B- Is there any DNS configuration also needed?

8.) How much impact does your software plugin tax the system/A WPMU system in terms of server resources (CPU, memory etc.) to manage all languages that is running on the main and sub-site portals?

9.) In relationship to bullet point 7, how much can the system handle in traffic on various memory configurations and XYZ amounts of CPU’s/cores.

10.) Translation credits: is it just a monthly count of the XYZ number of words on your system or do you count credits by every time the site’s individual pages is loaded and counts down to zero anytime it is read, (Which would make it far more expensive as loads of traffic will quickly exhaust the translation credits)?

I think this is about it as far I comes to mind about pre-sales questions for now. I might have others later.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
    Kind regards
    Joans.

    • Hello Joans,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.

1.) Does it dynamically generate all the required pages in each language or do you have to create basically a copy in all intended languages for each page?
Both options are supported. If you select Translate Everything mode, the pages will be generated automatically.

2.) If so, then you need to maintain XYZ versions of the original page/pages manually (Which can/might be very time consuming)?
As mentioned above, if you select the “Translate Everything” mode, all the updates are handled automatically as well. Not sure what you mean by maintaining.

3.) When creating a new page/blog post in the system (We also run WordPress Multisite), will you have to create the other pages/blog post too manually or will a new page be dynamically/automatically generated in each language?
WPML can be used with WordPress running Multisite. I answered this question in #1. Depends on the mode you choose. If you select “Translate Some” instead of “Translate Everything” you can still translate automatically in bulk selected pages (but this option is currently being revamped and WPML 4.6 , the next release bring significant improvement here)

4.) As we mentioned in bullet point 3; we do run WPMU are you counting each site as an individual site which requires a license or is it per domain name?
No, it’s counted as one site.

5.) Our WPMU system is only used for our corporate website and portals for our company. Do sub-domains installed (E.g. careeers.domain.com, support.domain.com), count as one site or (Main root domain is on the system too of course)?
You generate one license key for one WordPress install. If your WPMU is just one WordPress installation (as it usually is), consider this counting as one.

6.) Is there required a WPMU specific license to use it in a WPMU system?
No. But in order for each subsite to see the translation credits, you will need to connect each of your subsite with the main site to share the translation credits.

7.) A -How does your product handle having different languages on the corresponding language’s national TLD work out?
B- Is there any DNS configuration also needed?
Could you please share a specific example of what you mean here? Do you need different domains for languages? Thank you.

8.) How much impact does your software plugin tax the system/A WPMU system in terms of server resources (CPU, memory etc.) to manage all languages that is running on the main and sub-site portals?
I don’t have any concrete data to share with you.

9.) In relationship to bullet point 7, how much can the system handle in traffic on various memory configurations and XYZ amounts of CPU’s/cores.
No data at the moment but I will check with our developers what they can say here.

10.) Translation credits: is it just a monthly count of the XYZ number of words on your system or do you count credits by every time the site’s individual pages is loaded and counts down to zero anytime it is read, (Which would make it far more expensive as loads of traffic will quickly exhaust the translation credits)?
It is just a monthly count of the XYZ number of words (then the translation is saved both in the so-called translation memory and also in your database and you don’t need to translate and consume credits again).

  18. Hi!

I need to purchase with the company’s debit card but the only option I am given is by PayPal. How can I change this? Many thanks in advance!

    • Hi, yes, you can use your credit card. On the “checkout” page you will see a link entitled “Use a different payment processor” (at the bottom of the page, under the orange button). Please click on it.

  19. Hello there,

I have a plain, simple website as linked above. Would like to translate for 2 languages.
Is it possible to the “blog” package will be good for me?

    • Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML.
I can see your site uses Divi and to translate Divi with WPML, you need the CMS package (also the Blog package doesn’t translate automatically).

  20. Hi there, I would like to know if there’s any way to set different currencies for products and show different currencies in all stages of checkout, but all go to the same Stripe account.

  21. Hi

we currently have a serious compatibility issue, seemingly with WPML (WordPress 6.02 with WPML Multilingual CMS 3.7.1, WPML String Translation 2.5.4 and WPML Translation Management 2.3.1). Our translated categories do not appear in the translated post version any more.

The plugin updater tells me to update, but this requires a subscription code I do not have. I am not sure who (if anyone) already registered our company/webpage (energiekonzepte.ch), since our former web developer does not exist any more. So I cannot login.

Could you please check whether the webpage energiekonzepte.ch is registered? Can I re-register and get a code or can you transfer the account?

Thanks in advance and kind regards
    Markus

  22. Hello,
Looking to translate a woocommerce store. I have a google sheets file with the SKU, Name, Description (and other columns not related to language). The store currenlty has english set as default language. Woocommerce already has an import feature that I use to mantain my product data. I normally upload new products and also update any changes via this import feature. I would lke to know if there is a similar feature offer by wpml, where I can import csv file with a column that can be used to identify the product (sku) to upload the translations in the second language.

    Example: Fila A English
    SKU, Name, Description
TOY01, Toy Car, Car black Medium

    Example: FilaB Spanish
    SKU, Name, Description
TOY01, Carro Juguete, Carro Negro Mediano

I already looked into various wpml tutorials and documentation but it seems that you only offer the xliff export/import. There does not seem to be a way for me to easily convert my xlsx or csv file into the proper xliff format. I have seen some of the xliff software tutorials and it seems to be a very manual process, having to mouse over each field and write/copy&paste each individual field. When you have thousands of SKUs, this is not proper use of the time since I already have the translations.
