  1. Hello,
I want to make multi-language website for 2 languages: such as English and Italian.

I saw that I can do “domain.com/en” and “domain.com/it” for the website. Does your “Multilingual Blog” package support this feature, or I must purchase “Multilingual CMS” package?

    Thanks

    • Hello. “Languages in subfolders” is the default setting for all WPML packages, Including the Blog one. Feel free to purchase the Blog package if you don’t need machine translation. You can upgrade to the CMS package later if needed. In that case you will pay the difference in the purchase price.

    • Hello,
do you ask about automatic redirections? If you want to set up an automatic redirection this feature is available in all WPML packages. The Blog package doesn’t translate automatically.

    • Hello,
yes, you can still use WPML plugins even if you don’t renew your WPML subscription but without access to new versions. So we cannot anticipate what will happen if in the future if you update your WordPress and themes and plugins but you don’t update WPML.

  2. I already started a website (with the DIVI template) and have pages with text in German, although the general language settings in WordPress are set to Dutch.
When I install WPML and set the default language to German in the plugin, will this be a problem? Do I need to have the default WordPress language set to German as well?
Thanks in advance for the answer

    • Hello there,
This should not be a problem. When you install WPML, you need to set your main communication language as the main language of your site. Then, you can always set your WordPress Dashboard to display in any language, for example Dutch, you need by adjusting your profile settings.
      Regards

  3. Thanks. How can I purchase the pay as you go for monthly translations? On the site I only see 3 options for prepaid credits.

  4. Hi,

I run a shop based on WooCommerce and I want to make it available in two languages. I don’t need auto-translation features or currency by location, just the ability to translate the website by myself. Will the 39$ version provide that for me, or do I need to buy the 99$ version for WooCommerce support?

    • Hello Valerie,
yes, you need the CMS package because the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin requires the String Translation plugin which is a must-have for WooCommerce sites. For example, without it you won’t translate email notifications. And the String Translation plugin is available in the CMS package.
Using the CMS package has a lot of other advantages, for example, you can speed up your translation by using machine translations and then manually edit these where needed. You will get 90 000 credits for free.

  5. Hello,
I have a few questions before I purchase the plugin.
    1. Some pages do not need to be translated into my secondary language because it’s not relevant. What happens when I do not translate a page? Or when I visit /en/for-dutch-patients-only/? Am I being reverted to the homepage, to the main language page or to a 404 page?
    2. I am using the Pro theme by Themeco. My pages are not a 1-on-1 translation, I need to flexibility to completely redesign a page. What happens when I create a translation? Can I edit the translated page in my Pro editor?
    Thanks, Paul

  6. Hello,
I have a question with my wpml account renewal.
I would like to buy an agency license but my doubt is that if my clients do not want to renew the license or do not pay me for the renewal, how can I update some domains and not others?

    • Hello,
You can update the WPML plugins only on pages that are registered. If you don’t want some of your websites to receive updates, simply unregister that website (you can do it from within your WPML account). This website can still use WPML but it won’t receive updates.

  7. Hello,
do you ask about automatic redirections? If you want to set up an automatic redirection this feature is available in all WPML packages. The Blog package doesn’t translate automatically.

can show me which package allow this feature?

  9. Is it possible to get a trial of the plugin? I’m trying to help a free dual language immersion school w/ their website and would like them to try out several different plugins, including WPML to see what fits their needs best. I’ve setup 3 different wordpress instances so I don’t have plugin conflicts.

    • Hello Chris,
we don’t provide free trials I’m afraid. The only way to test WPML is to buy it keeping our refund policy in mind. It allows you to test WPML for 30 days.

  10. Hello,

If translating to Arabic, does WPML also have the option of mirroring the content/page, as it is typical for all Arabic website to be read from right to left instead of left to right?

  11. Can you use the automatic translation for an entire site and then go back and make any edits that might be needed?

Also, if a site has a page with PDF files that are not translated, is there any way to hide that page when someone is viewing the site in a different language? Or is there any other solution for this problem, other than translating each PDF file?

  12. What do you mean, my “WPML site”? I do not have WPML yet, and I would like to purchase the monthly translations without buying the prepaid packages. Please let me know how this can be done. Thanks!

    • Hello Eddy,
when you say “purchase the monthly translations without buying the prepaid packages” I guess you are referring to the Pays-as-you-go payment method for translation credits (which is explained in detail here) In this case you are charged for credits every month if you used more than 2000 translations credits. Credits are used only for new content or updated content. To sign up Pays-as-you-go you need to install WPML on your site because this option is available from within your WPML site (WPML > Tranalsation Management > Tools). You don’t need to buy pre-paid credits/packages at all. When you buy WPML you will get 90 000 credits for free which you can assign to your site when registering your site. You can start translating your site with these free credits and if it turns out that your site needs more credits, it will indicate it to you pointing to the screen where you can sign up for Pays-as-you-go. I hope it help.

  13. Hi, our company is running 3 different stores and we would like to have a tool that put multilingual for people reading Chinese (traditional Chinese). My colleague and I are bilingual so we do not need auto translation actually. which is the best suitable for us?

  14. Hi, I want to translate my website from Norwegian to Swedish, Danish, German and French. My website contains about 50,000 words, to my estimate at least 35% of the words are repeating therefore I wonder:

    1. Which package should I choose?
    2. Does the word count (credit usage) calculated per unique word only or every word does cost 2 credits, regardless that it was already translated many times?

    • Hello,
      1. WPML CMS
      2. WPML uses Translation Memory, which means if you translate the same phrase/sentence again, it won’t use credits. For example, if you use “Buy now” multiple times, Only 4 credits (2×2) will be used in total (2 credits = 1 word for DeepL/Google translate, 2 words = 4 credits). But if you add “If you plan to buy now”, translation memory won’t be used for “buy now” because it’s a part of a new sentence now.

  15. I have the problem that I do support for a website but I don’t have access to the WPML license. The license registered for the website should not change at the request of the customer!
I would buy a WPML CMS license if it would give me support for this website (multisite installation). So quasi a license only for support access with you.
    Is this possible?

    • Yes, it is possible but getting support for such a website will be a bit tricky, let me explain why. When you open a support ticket, our system can see the websites you registered within -your- WPML account. So when you ask for support help you need to select the site from -your- list. So you won’t see your client’s website. You will need to unregister your client’s website and register it again with your key. Then, if needed, you can register it again with your customer’s account. Or you can ask your client to share credentials to his/her WPML account with you.

  16. Will WPML allow me to translate the blocks interface for WP Gutenberg (like Generate Blocks) ? I’ve tried other plugins and they can only translate the content in the created block, which is something I don’t need. In other words, can I translate .json files ?

    Thank you.

  17. Thanks for the very informative answer. Was very helpful!

One more thing – I only pay one time (per year?) for the translation and new credits only will be used if I add more words or update the ones that were already translated. Correct?

  18. Hello, which of the packages will be suitable for this site. We are not programmers, this is only a site of our agency and only for it we would like to use vpml

  19. Thanks for your reply. I can’t get access because of a policy regulation. The on and off is also not good I guess.
Because it’s a Multisite: can we add my license to one more “blind“ subside with one more subdomain?
    Thanks in advance!

    • It won’t work I’m afraid because you generate only one key for the entire WordPress Multisite. I’ve been thinking about the following: you buy WPML for yourself and create a dummy website which you will choose when asking for support assistance. Then you can explain in your support thread that your issue is for another site and you provide the link. But often supporters ask for credentials to this site so they can check the issue and if it’s a WP Multisite it can be more difficult (for example to take a copy with the Duplicator plugin). You case is tricky and it’s the first time we deal with something like that I have to admit.
