What happens if I have an active subscription, then transfer the key and payment to a client, and later I don’t renew my own license? Will that client still pay €40 for their renewals and have access to updates, while I continue to receive renewal discounts on my license?
Once you transfer your subscription, the price at which the client as obtained the transferred subscription will remain in effect until such time that they stop renewing, they want to register a new site, or they want upgrade their WPML account. Recall that WPML will continue to work on their sites even if your account expires.
You wrote:
“and later I don’t renew my own license?”
As long as you renew your account regularly, you will benefit from the discounts you have accummulated with each transferred subscription. If you do not renew your own subscription, your discounts stop.
I hope I understood your question and was able to respond to them adequately.

Hi,
We need to create 4 websites/WooCommerce stores at 4 different domains/countries, and would prefer to have English as 5th/basic language. Each country store would display only English content and content in language of specific country (as primary site language). We’d also like to use AI automatic translations insted of translating content manually (few texts and 150+ products).
What would be the best package for our needs, and what additional cost can we expect for AI translations? Do we need to purchase the license for each domain/site? Do we need several WPML user accounts to achieve what we need?
Thank you.

If these 4 websites/WooCommerce stores are all sharing the same WordPress installation/database (e.g. products, look&feel, etc), then you could meet our needs with one CMS subscription plan.
If the 4 websites/WooCommerce stores all have their own database installation, then you would need to get the Agency subscription plan.
“Do we need several WPML user accounts to achieve what we need?”
You will need a WPML user account for each subscription. If you get an Cms/Agency subscription you need just one account/email and you can create a “team” as described in this article:
Hello, we are looking into buying the wpml plugin however we faced a few issues to understand the plans you are offering
1) wecould not understand the difference between the pay as you go model and the normal plan with all the features (the 99€ one) and we would like to know if the pay as you offers similar functionalities or not and
2) we would also like a way to try and estimate the number of credits we would need for our website and 3) if maybe a translation done by ai was not what we wanted to achieve if we could edit the translation?
4)Finally our website is done with elementor pro and we wanted to make sure about the compatibility of wpml with elementor and if the pay as you go plan also is compatible
I think there is a basic misunderstanding about the cost structure of using our plugin. Please let me try to clarify and then I will go back to your questions and answer them with this new re-framing.
As a general statement, there are 2 costs associated with having a multilingual site:
1. Subscription costs (yearly)
2. Translation costs (as needed)
1. Subscription Costs
WPML offers a translation framework which includes tools for fully translating your site’s text elements (theme/plugin strings, user generated content, plugin outputs, media, images, metadata, etc). This framework has a yearly subscription fee and three modalities: Blog, CMS, or Agency
As your site uses Elementor, you will need to purchase the CMS or Agency subscription. Since you have a single site, you don’t need Agency – so the CMS option is for you. To have access to the latest software updates and support, you will need to renew your subscription yearly. Please note that even if you don’t renew your subscription, your translated content remains on your site and you site will keep working.
In ADDITION to the yearly subscription fee, must consider your content translation costs. This is a cost apart from purchasing the CMS subscription.
If you choose to translate your content manually with no machine translation engines involved. Your “translation costs” is the time you spend translating your content.
If you choose to translate your content contracting a professional translation service, then the “translation costs” are what this company will charge you to translate your content.
If you choose to use “machine translations” in our “Automatic Translation” mode, then the “translation costs” are the number of words to translate multiplied by the cost per word of the translation engine you choose to use.
How to pay translation costs?
Once you have decided which translation method you want to use, you should decide HOW you would like to manage paying for these “translation credits”. You can “Pre Pay” credits or you can “Pay as you Go”.
Here is a discussion of each: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Now that you have an explanation of our costs and payment methods for translating your site, let’s revisit your questions:
1) we could not understand the difference between the pay as you go model and the normal plan with all the features (the 99€ one) and we would like to know if the pay as you offers similar functionalities or not and we would like to know if the pay as you offers similar functionalities or not
As you can see, the “pay as you go” is a translation payment method for automatic translation credits. If is not limited by if you get the CMS or Agency plan. The things you need to compare are:
– CMS vs. Agency Subscription plans
– Translation Method: manual, professional, machine engine
– Translation Engine: PLC, Deepl, Microsoft, Google
– Translation Credits Payment Method: Pay-as-you-go vs. Pre-Pay
2) we would also like a way to try and estimate the number of credits we would need for our website
4)Finally our website is done with elementor pro and we wanted to make sure about the compatibility of wpml with elementor and if the pay as you go plan also is compatible
We are compatible with Elementor Pro, however, there may be custom-widgets from theme or plugins that need to be “registered” for translation with our Advanced Translation Editor. At the time that you start your translation project, it would be advisable to review the widgets you are using.
In the best case, the widgets that your site has implemented are already known and visible to WPML. In the case that there are some widgets that are not known/visible to our plugin, then please read through the documentation or contact our Support to help you register them.
I hope I was able to clear up some confusion and answer your questions.
I want to purchase the WPML Multilingual CMS package. When I try to place the order, it redirects me to PayPal. However, I prefer to pay directly using a credit card, but I cannot see the credit card payment option available.
Could you please guide me on how I can complete the purchase using my credit card?

We are planning to use WPML on our WordPress website. Here is a brief overview of our setup:
The site has custom pages with templates, using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for content.
We have custom post types and custom taxonomies, as well as regular posts and pages.
Some pages and taxonomies (default and custom) already have specific slugs that we want to keep across all languages.
We have a few questions:
Does WPML allow both manual and automatic translation for pages, posts, and ACF fields, and custom post types?
Can we keep the same slug for all taxonomies (default and custom) and pages across all languages, so that the only difference in URLs is the language prefix? For example:
adc.com/services/page-slug (default language)
adc.com/en/services/page-slug (English)
adc.com/pt/services/page-slug (Portuguese)
For ACF fields, can they be translated manually as well as automatically if we choose?
Will WPML create duplicate pages for translations, or is there a way to manage translations within the same page?
If we only plan to do manual translations, will any additional WPML add-ons or plugins be required, or is the core WPML plugin sufficient?
We want to ensure WPML works seamlessly with our custom templates, ACF fields, and URL structure.

For example:
Not exactly. There isn’t a global option to enforce this. Slugs are translated automatically as well, so you would need to manually adjust them if you want to keep the same slug across languages.

Yes. You can translate fields individually or in batches, either manually or automatically. You don’t need to enable automatic translation for the entire site.
Will WPML create duplicate pages for translations, or is there a way to manage translations within the same page?
WPML creates a separate page per language for each translation. This approach is best for SEO.
If we only plan to do manual translations, will any additional WPML add-ons or plugins be required, or is the core WPML plugin sufficient?
Yes, additional plugins are required. Even for manual translations, you will need the WPML String Translation plugin and our ACF add-on. Both are included in the CMS and Agency packages.
We want to ensure WPML works seamlessly with our custom templates, ACF fields, and URL structure.
WPML fully supports this. It is the most flexible multilingual plugin for ACF, as confirmed by clients who have tried other solutions.
Hello Patrycja,
I will email you a link to a simple test site but if you want to test WPML with your theme and your plugin, you need to buy it and use our refund policy in case it doesn’t work.
Hello,
You cannot make a purchase in dollars. WPML subscriptions are sold in euros. However, if you use the pay-by-card option and your bank account is in dollars, the payment processor will convert the euros to dollars. To pay by card:
1. Visit the page: https://wpml.org/purchase/
2. Click “Buy now” and then on the Checkout page click “Use a different payment method” (under the orange Place order button)
3. Click Pay using a credit card
Hello, if you ask about WPML compatibility with the Gravity Forms plugin, the answer is, yes, WPML is compatible with GF but there are some known issues: https://wpml.org/plugin/gravity-forms/
I can’t login.
Password-Reset doesn’t work. It ends with error Wrong Key.
It requests a new passwort-reset wich ends in an endless action!?
Without Login I can’t send a Support-Ticket.
How can I login? It’s important to download an actual Version of WPML.
Hello, I’ve triggered a password reset for your WPML account directly from our system. You should receive an email with your new credentials. Please let me know if you’re able to log in now. If not, you can either let me know or use this form: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
We have tried multiple times to reset the password for our account under elui@adl.org, but no reset link has been sent to us. So we cannot login to pay you, and you are sending us notifications that our account will be suspended in 7days. We would like to pay you, but cannot login. How can we solve this?
Hello Randy,
I have replied to all your messages but our replies come back bounced from you. Please make sure you can receive emails from hello@wpml.org
Subject: Request for Refund for Undelivered Translation Service
Dear WPML Team,
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the translation service I purchased through your platform. Approximately one month ago, I paid for the translation of nearly 3,000 words, with the expectation that these translations would be properly applied to my website.
Unfortunately, despite my repeated attempts to follow up and resolve the issue, no translations have been delivered or applied to my site—not even a single line.
I fully understand that technical or administrative issues may arise, but in this case, the service I paid for has not been provided. For this reason, I must respectfully yet firmly request the immediate refund of the full amount paid for the undelivered translations.
I kindly ask for your prompt attention to this matter, and I look forward to your reply to coordinate the refund process as soon as possible.
Please note that anyone who purchases WPML is entitled to request a refund for their subscription order within 30 days, and we will issue the refund regardless of the reason.
I could not find your email address in our system to verify when you purchased WPML. Your site also does not appear to be registered in our system.
Please note that the rules for refunding translation credits are different.
You mentioned that you paid for the translation of nearly 3,000 words; however, I was unable to find any record of this. Therefore, I cannot refer to anything concrete at this point. We kindly ask that you contact us through this contact form and provide the following details:
– The email address of your WPML account
– The website you registered with WPML
– Information about when you registered it
– If you were charged for translation credits, the email address used for that purchase
– If your translations were not delivered, please include some examples when contacting us. We will check these in our system as well.
Our website content is written in English, but we would like WPML to automatically display the French version as the default for all visitors. We don’t want users to select French manually from the language switcher, and we don’t want to rely on browser language detection. Is there a way to force French to be the default language site-wide?
Thank you for your interest in WPML and for your question.
Before answering, let me clarify one important point. When you make your site multilingual, it will be indexed by search engines like Google in multiple languages. This means you’ll receive organic traffic directly in the user’s preferred language. Users will land on the page in the language they searched for.
I’m looking into automatic translation options for my site and I need the Welsh language. By the looks of it, neither PTC or DeepL offer Welsh, so am I stuck with Google or Azure? And if so, is there a way I can test things out before committing? For context, I run a large multisite, and only one of the sites will need the WPML plugin activated. I also use WordPress for the back-end, but the front-end of the site is a NextJS site, which uses WPGraphQL to serve it’s data. What are the current, if any, integrations with GraphQL at the moment?
Hello,
that’s correct, you are stuck with Google or Azure for Welsh. https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
You can purchase WPML keeping our refund policy in mind. It will allow you to use 90 000 translation credits (translate 90 000 words with Azure or 45 000 with Google). You will have 30 days to test this out without risking your money.
Buongiorno
Chiara
Hello Chiara,
I am sorry I am replying in English.
In this case, it looks like transferring the renewal link to your client is exactly what you need. This will allow them to keep receiving updates and support on their site directly.
More info here https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/
Thanks for your replay
So with the transfer my client is going to pay only 39€ for one website, even if my account is for 3 websites, right? And I can not renew my account without problems for him, right?
Yes, your client will pay 39 EUR/year. This will allow them to receive updates and support for this transferred site exclusively. They will not be able to register WPML on any other sites.
If you don’t renew your account, your client will keep receiving updates and support from us, as long as they keep their end-user account active.
Hello,
I can see that this site was registered multiple times. The most recent registration did not come from your email address but from someone else using the same domain. Please send us a direct email from your domain to hello@wpml.org so we can confirm you represent the same company and request the email address change.
I’m using Elementor Pro, Blocksy Pro, WooCommerce and Polylang (free) right now.
I have following languages configured: /fi /en and /sv
Can WPML do the following: make sure the pricing on the product page is correct, make sure the user gets taken to the correct cart / checkout page in their language / currency based on IP / geo location.
And can you explain how this works more deeply? do I need more add-on plugins or no? Is it easy to migrate from Polylang to WPML without ruining my permalinks / current language links or pages?
I’m not sure what you mean by “the pricing on the product page is correct,” but WPML does meet your requirements. You will need the WPML CMS package, which includes the WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce add-on.
We also offer a Polylang-to-WooCommerce migration add-on, but it comes with some limitations. After migrating your pages and posts, you will not be able to open the existing translations in the WPML editor for further edits. Additionally, WooCommerce-related migrations are not supported.
I have been trying to purchase WPML for the company I work for.
At first I was connected to the VPN in Germany, so my card was flagged by my bank in my residing country as a suspicious transactions.
Since then I have called them twice, and they have confirmed that they have unlocked my card and I can proceed with the transaction.
But my card still gets declined from WPML, please email me, and unblock my card so that I can successfully purchase WPML plugin for our website.
Hello,
Please use this form to get in touch with us directly. We prefer not to exchange sensitive information through public comments. Thank you. https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
In your message, please let us know how you can see that your card is being declined, and also include the email address you used when trying to purchase WPML. I wasn’t able to find any orders from you in our system, not even declined ones.
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. You cannot sign up without purchasing. When you purchase WPML, you WPML account will be created automatically for you.
Hello,
yes, please switch to manual renewals and after doing so our system should allow you to pay in advance.
1. Log into your WPML account
2. Go to https://wpml.org/account/ and click Modify your renewal options
3. Click Cancel automatic renewal
4. Select Instead of automatic renewals, I want to renew manually
after switching to manual renewals you should be able to pay immediately
In case of issues, please contact us directly https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/

If the 4 websites/WooCommerce stores all have their own database installation, then you would need to get the Agency subscription plan.
You asked: “what additional cost can we expect for AI translations?”
The cost for translating your content (apart from the yearly subscription fee) depends on the number of words and translation engine you are using. Here are the available engines: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/how-to-change-automatic-translation-engines/
And here is a rough cost estimator: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#estimate-your-translation-cost
You asked:
As discussed above, this depends on if the domain/site share the same WordPress database or not. You have the option of assigning a language to each domain using the domain-per-language URL format but this assumes that the shop is the same in all languages sharing the same wordpress instance: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/#a-different-domain-per-language
You asked:
You will need a WPML user account for each subscription. If you get an Cms/Agency subscription you need just one account/email and you can create a “team” as described in this article:

Here is the list of our current translation engines and their cost: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/how-to-change-automatic-translation-engines/
We have a rough cost estimator you can use here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#estimate-your-translation-cost
How to pay translation costs?
Once you have decided which translation method you want to use, you should decide HOW you would like to manage paying for these “translation credits”. You can “Pre Pay” credits or you can “Pay as you Go”.
Here is a discussion of each:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Now that you have an explanation of our costs and payment methods for translating your site, let’s revisit your questions:
As you can see, the “pay as you go” is a translation payment method for automatic translation credits. If is not limited by if you get the CMS or Agency plan. The things you need to compare are:
– CMS vs. Agency Subscription plans
– Translation Method: manual, professional, machine engine
– Translation Engine: PLC, Deepl, Microsoft, Google
– Translation Credits Payment Method: Pay-as-you-go vs. Pre-Pay
We have a rough cost estimator you can use here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#estimate-your-translation-cost
It gives you an IDEA of what you are looking at as a cost.
We are compatible with Elementor Pro, however, there may be custom-widgets from theme or plugins that need to be “registered” for translation with our Advanced Translation Editor. At the time that you start your translation project, it would be advisable to review the widgets you are using.
Here is some explanation about this: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/how-to-register-page-builder-widgets-for-translation/
In the best case, the widgets that your site has implemented are already known and visible to WPML. In the case that there are some widgets that are not known/visible to our plugin, then please read through the documentation or contact our Support to help you register them.
I hope I was able to clear up some confusion and answer your questions.

Sincerely,
José Fernando Salcedo Ortiz
Hello José,
Please note that anyone who purchases WPML is entitled to request a refund for their subscription order within 30 days, and we will issue the refund regardless of the reason.
Additionally, you can ask for assistance from our technical experts through our support forum. They will be happy to help you solve any technical issues.
Best regards,
Agnes
Our website content is written in English, but we would like WPML to automatically display the French version as the default for all visitors. We don’t want users to select French manually from the language switcher, and we don’t want to rely on browser language detection. Is there a way to force French to be the default language site-wide?
Thank you for your interest in WPML and for your question.
Before answering, let me clarify one important point. When you make your site multilingual, it will be indexed by search engines like Google in multiple languages. This means you’ll receive organic traffic directly in the user’s preferred language. Users will land on the page in the language they searched for.
In that case, you don’t need to set up any automatic redirections. WPML does support automatic redirection, but it’s only useful for visitors who access your site directly (without coming from a search engine). If you’d like to enable it, you can follow this guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/
Many thanks
Hello,
that’s correct, you are stuck with Google or Azure for Welsh.

You can purchase WPML keeping our refund policy in mind. It will allow you to use 90 000 translation credits (translate 90 000 words with Azure or 45 000 with Google). You will have 30 days to test this out without risking your money.
Bonjour
Est-ce que le plugin fonctionne sur un network wordpress? Est-ce que le plugin de base ( version à 99euros ) est correct?
merci
Célne
Hello,
yes, WPML works with WordPress Multisite:

Buongiorno
Chiara
Hello Chiara,
I am sorry I am replying in English.
In this case, it looks like transferring the renewal link to your client is exactly what you need. This will allow them to keep receiving updates and support on their site directly.
More info here https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/
Kind regards
Thanks for your replay
So with the transfer my client is going to pay only 39€ for one website, even if my account is for 3 websites, right? And I can not renew my account without problems for him, right?
Yes, your client will pay 39 EUR/year. This will allow them to receive updates and support for this transferred site exclusively. They will not be able to register WPML on any other sites.
If you don’t renew your account, your client will keep receiving updates and support from us, as long as they keep their end-user account active.
Best regards
Hi,
I cannot login to our account. I also cannot find which email address was registered. But it should be something ending with solarmonkey.nl
We had some personnel changes in the meantime.
Can you help out?
Hello,
I can see that this site was registered multiple times. The most recent registration did not come from your email address but from someone else using the same domain. Please send us a direct email from your domain to hello@wpml.org so we can confirm you represent the same company and request the email address change.
Hey,
I’m using Elementor Pro, Blocksy Pro, WooCommerce and Polylang (free) right now.
Thanks.
Hello,
I’m not sure what you mean by “the pricing on the product page is correct,” but WPML does meet your requirements.
Hi,
I have been trying to purchase WPML for the company I work for.
Thank you.
Hello,
Please use this form to get in touch with us directly. We prefer not to exchange sensitive information through public comments. Thank you.

In your message, please let us know how you can see that your card is being declined, and also include the email address you used when trying to purchase WPML. I wasn’t able to find any orders from you in our system, not even declined ones.
How can I sign up for your website without purchasing a plan?
Hello Raza,
I am afraid there’s no way to do this. The only way to open an account with us is by buying a subscription.
Kind regards
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. You cannot sign up without purchasing. When you purchase WPML, you WPML account will be created automatically for you.
