  1. Thank you, Yvette.
I went over the details you’ve sent, but these instructions are the exact opposite of what I wished to achieve.
We need to restrict credits to a single website and not allow them for all. I’ll try to contact support.

    • Hello

Yes, please contact support. They will show you how to configure your sites so that only one site can have translation credits or access automatic translation engines.

      Kind regards.

  2. is woocommerce mandatory?
    I get this message

“WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce is enabled but not effective. It requires WooCommerce to work.”

    • Hello

As it is the “add-on” or “bridge” plugin so that Woocommerce will work with our plugin, the answer is “yes”. If you don’t have Woocommerce installed, then you also do not need the “WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce” installed or activated. You can remove it.

      Kind regards

    • Hello

You need the base plugin (CMS) and String Tranlsations for most projects. As I don’t know your project needs, I have no idea how to answer your question. What plugin are you looking for?

Your last question asked if you need WCML (Woocommerce Multilingual) if you did not have Woocommerce. And I responded that you need it if you have Woocommerce installed.

All of our plugins are available from your wpml.org account in the Downloads section.

  3. Hi,

I had trouble with WeGLot and Translate press with either technical or restriction issues, can your plugin AI translate system Translate from en-GB to Serbian LATIN?

    Thanks, Stephen

  4. I paid for the plug in and am waiting for the email that provides the a. receipt so I can submit that to Accounting and b. so I can actually set up my account and I’ve received nothing. Can you please send me those items?

    Thank you!

  5. Hello!
I need to upgrade from Multilingual Blog to Multilingual CMS. What is the procedure? I bought it this week.

    Thanks

  6. Hello,

For a website we are looking for a plugin that helps us with translating the website, as we want to start translating to more than Dutch and English, and this will be too much work to do manually.

So, to understand what I will be buying, I have three questions:

    – does the plugin automatically translate to a variety of languages, without manual work required?
    – if so, is there the option to make manual changes to the translated text?
    – also, is there the option to exclude text strings from the translations (e.g. our company name should stay like that, instead of being translated as well)

    Looking forward to your response.
    Kind regards, Jip Asveld

    • Hello

      – does the plugin automatically translate to a variety of languages, without manual work required?

Yes it can. However, most people do not immediately publish the content without having a human review the readability/translation quality for sensitive or legally binding content. For this, they use a workflow that will also allow a human review process. But technically, the system can be configured to automatically generate translated content to the target language and publish it on your WordPress site without any human intervention.

      Of interest: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/review-automatic-translations/

      – if so, is there the option to make manual changes to the translated text?

Yes, you can always modify the translated text. This can be done as part of the review process or afterwards by editing the transalted content via the Translation Editor.

      – also, is there the option to exclude text strings from the translations (e.g. our company name should stay like that, instead of being translated as well)

Yes, we provide a Glossary function.
Please read more about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/

I hope this information helps you.

  7. Dear WPML Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am planning to switch my multilingual setup to WPML and would like to confirm that your plugin can handle the specific requirements of my website before I buy.

    My current setup:

    WordPress website
    Theme: Astra
    Shop: WooCommerce
    Main language: German
    Additional languages planned: English

What I need WPML to do:

    Different menus per language

I would like to create separate navigation menus for German and English.

In the English version, I only want to show links to pages and products that actually exist in English.

German-only pages and products should not appear in the English menu.

    Selective translation of content

I do not want or need to translate my entire website.

Only certain pages (e.g. selected sales pages, about page, a smaller number of blog posts) and selected WooCommerce products will be translated into English.

All other German pages and products should not appear in the English version at all (no visible links, no access for visitors in that language).

    WooCommerce support

I would like to sell some of my products internationally.

Can WPML handle a setup where only specific products are translated and available in English, while others remain German-only?

Will non-translated products automatically be hidden from the English shop and category pages?

In short, I want to make sure that with WPML I can:

    Create language-specific menus

Show only translated pages and products in each language

Use WooCommerce with a subset of products translated

Hide all non-translated content from the other languages

If all of this is possible with WPML, I would be very happy to use your plugin for my multilingual setup.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and clarification.

    Best regards,
    Karin

    • Hello

I have read through your requirements.

Can WPML handle a setup where only specific products are translated and available in English, while others remain German-only? Will non-translated products automatically be hidden from the English shop and category pages?

Yes – we can handle this. It is up to you to choose which products to translate and how much of your store to make visible in each language. If a product only exists in German, then it will only appear on the German online store. Same happens with English products.

The reason we can do this is because your translated content (pages, posts, products…etc) are tagged in our internal tables with a language code. When your WordPress system does an SQL select, it will pickup any existing content in your database that is tagged with the active session/browser language and ignore the other content.

Here is a look at our architecture in case you are interested:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-tables/

I hope I have been able to respond to your doubts.

  8. We are interested in migrating 2 sites that already use another multilingual plugin to WPML. If the sites are already fully translated (one is in English and Spanish, another is mostly in English, Spanish, and Simple Chinese), will we still use translation credits or only once changes are made?

Additionally, for one of the sites, there is just one subset of pages (2-3) that need to be translated into 12 languages. We don’t want to publish empty pages for all of those languages for the rest of the site. Is it possible to target specific pages with specific languages?

    • Hello

If the sites are already fully translated (one is in English and Spanish, another is mostly in English, Spanish, and Simple Chinese), will we still use translation credits or only once changes are made?

This depends mostly on the mode of trnaslation you configure the system to use: “translate everything automatically” or “translate what I choose”

If you choose “translate everything automatically”, the system will look for any content that has no translations attached and begin translating them. To stop this, you will want to either physically or “virtually” reimport your data at the time you install WPML so that it is tagged as “original content” and/or “translations of” within our own database tables. This is usually done with compatible import/export tools or via some clever php coding. Once the new tables are populated, then the translation system will not attempt to translate your existing content.

If you choose “translate what I choose”, then you still would have to “re import” your content as previously described. At this point, only new content would consume translation credits.

Important note: if you were to edit an imported existing translated post within our Advanced Translation Editor, the editor will not be able to load your translated content. This is because it uses Translation Memory to see translated content. As the translated content was imported, this initial load bypassed the translation memory. For this reason, I would recommend that you always modify your existing content manually and use our Advanced Translation Editor for new content only if you do not want to consume translation credits for already translated content.

I hope I was able to explain this clearly.

for the rest of the site. Is it possible to target specific pages with specific languages?

Yes – if you use the mode “Translate what I want”, you will use the Translation Dashboard to select which pages you want to translate to which target languages and the way you would like to transalte it (using machine translation or manually).

      Kind regards,

  9. Hi, I built my blog using Thrive Themes (Thrive Theme Builder) and am wondering if WPML is compatible. Also, is there an option to buy additional WPML support once the first year is up?
    Thank you for your help.

    • Hello

blog using Thrive Themes (Thrive Theme Builder) and am wondering if WPML is compatible

Unfortunately, we are currently not compatible will Thrive Architect as noted here: https://wpml.org/plugin/thrive-architect/

is there an option to buy additional WPML support once the first year is up?

Support is available with an active subscription so when you renew the subscription, you will automatically have access to additional support.

      Kind regards

  10. We wan to translate our website in English, we have around 80000 words and wanted to go with the multilingual agency package. Is the 199 dollars a one time fees or recurring fees.

    • Hello

The 199 euro is a yearly subscription fee. It gives you access to Support, new releases, and the ability to register new sites. When you renew, you also are given free translation credit “top ups”. This is all explained here: https://wpml.org/purchase/wpml-renewal/

If you do not decide to renew, you can always still keep translating. You would have to buy translation credits using the Pay-As-You-Go plan but none of your translations will ever “disappear” or no longer be accessible.

      More here: https://wpml.org/home/terms-and-conditions/#what-happens-if-you-don-t-renew

P.S. Please note that the price of the subscription is separate and apart from the actual translation credits you need to purchase for doing automatic translations. You can always translate manually “for free” as well as link to a professional translation service using our XLIFF interface. Translation credits are only consumed if you use a translation engine to create machine translations for your content.

      Regards

  11. Also there is a confusion, the credit details on the buy page says that 2 credits are required for deepl translate but this page shows 4 credtis are required for deepl translate. Which on is correct?

https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/ (Shows 4 credit per word translate)

https://wpml.org/purchase/ shows 2 credits per deepl translate (when clicking on th question mark of the AI translate)

    Which one is correct.

  12. Hi, I cannot complete the purchase due to a “Postal Code Error”.
My card and billing information are correct.
Could you please help me complete the order manually?

    Thank you.

    • Hello,
      We are sorry for this.
This error is triggered by the payment processor. It appears when there’s a mismatch between the information entered during checkout and your card/bank details. For example if the browser locale is different from the location where the card was issued. It may also happen if you’re using a VPN/proxy. If the billing details are different it may also be triggered. The payment processor rejects it due to anti-fraud rules.

Can you please check on this or contact your bank/credit card issuer about this?

  13. I am trying to buy WPML for my companies website, but in the PayPal checkout the IBAN# of my company is not accepted. There is no explanation why. It just keeps asking me for my valid IBAN. I checked about 10 times. It is the correct #.
The company doesn’t have a CC and entering my private CC will cause bookkeeping problems. Please help.

  14. Hello, I’ve inherited this website from the previous owner. I have changed the “Book Your Holiday” link in the WP Theme “Kallyas”. The link won’t update in all 4 languages (it only works in Dutch). The site was using WPML before. It is also using an old PHP about “6.8”. The WPML contract has expired. I’m not going to make any more big changes to the website. If I purchase and install a new WPML fix the problem?

    • Hello Ben,
It’s always a good rpractice to use the latest files of plugins. Besides, if you purchase a subscription you will also have access to the technical forum if you need it

      Best regards

  15. I need to gain access to my account, but there is not email where I can contact support for a private issue.
Can you please refer me to your support please???
I don’t wanna publish any post about this.

  16. Hi, we have an account on our current website domain but are transferring it to another. Can you transfer the cred it card info to that new site? I can’t seem to log into my account here on your website. Thanks!

  18. Hi, I would like to show individual versions of my site depending on the country. Can the country be detected automatically?

Also, I show videos on the different parts of my site, can I change images and videos for different versions?

I have multiple paywalls in woocommerce by country, can I display paywalls per country?

What account type should I get, it’s only for one website probably 10+ versions.
