[Assigned] I have an HTML table with 6 tables cells, but only 4 are offered for translation with WPML translast...
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Elementor users - please update WPML to the latest version to maintain compatibility. More details here - https://wpml.org/changelog/2024/12/wpml-4-6-15-critical-update-for-elementor-sites/
Background of the issue:
I have an HTML table with 6 table cells that I want to translate from German to English using WPML on my site hidden link.
Symptoms:
Only 4 out of the 6 table cells are offered for translation in the WPML translation editor. Two cells are not shown and thus not translated.
Questions:
Why are only 4 out of 6 table cells available for translation in WPML?
How can I ensure all table cells are shown in the WPML translation editor?
You are right: ommitting the period after the second day will solve the problem with the translation - so English would be correct then. But unfortunately German not. There must be a period after each day number (I mistyped the date in the second cell, so it was translated correctly). How can I reach a German Version
12. - 13. März 2025
correctly translated to
March 12 - 13, 2025
I've taken over this ticket and would be happy to assist you in this matter.
I understand your requirements. Please note that in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), segmentation occurs when punctuation, such as a dot (.), is detected in a sentence. This means that if a sentence contains a dot, the text following it will appear in a new segment. This segmentation might be causing the table in other languages to display incorrectly.
Since you mentioned that the dot is required in the German language, could you please try translating by enabling the "Bigger Segment" option in the Translation Editor? This will prevent segmentation, allowing you to translate the entire sentence, including the dot, as a single unit.
- Open the Translation Editor.
- Click on the Gear icon at the top-right corner and enable the "I prefer bigger segments" option, as shown in this screenshot: hidden link.
- Save the translation.
- Now, try retranslating the page or post. The entire sentence should appear as a single segment for translation.
Please give it a try and let me know how it goes. I'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.
Thanks for that tip. Unfortunately I alread hat "Bigger Sgements" enabled, so it did not help.
I removed the HTML table to find out whether this is the culprit, but the result is the same: the first and the last dates (May and September) are not translated, the only date which is correctly translated is the second one (May). You can find the example at hidden link.
When I remove the period behind the second day, translation works also for the other dates, which is strange, because in the second date it is not necessary to remove thte period.
