Background of the issue:
***Please assign this ticket to Ilyes directly, I only work with him for the resolution of all my tickets. Thank you***. The selected agent on the French version does not hold when I update the French translation.

Symptoms:
I’ve encountered an issue with the agent assignment on the French version of my properties when updating translations via the ATE (please refer to the attached screenshot).

Yesterday, I noticed that for nearly all of my 78 properties, the French translation icon (the pencil) was visible on the English version, indicating the need to update the French translation. I went ahead and updated each one accordingly.

However, today I realized that the selected agent — “Arnaud Homburger” — is no longer assigned to the French versions of these properties. I had to manually edit each French property one by one to reassign the correct agent. This is not the first time I have to do this, which is time consuming and it sometimes take me time to realize that the agent is no longer assigned on my french properties.

Please note: assigning “Arnaud Homburger” as the agent is necessary for the properties to appear on the agent’s profile page under the “About Us” section of my website:

Could you please investigate this issue and let me know if there’s a way to preserve the agent assignment when updating translations, so I don’t have to manually reselect the agent every time?

And I will need to know what is that specific property is set as a custom field translation option in WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation.

Is it set as copy or something else?

Hello!

I'll help you get started while a supporter takes your case.

It's very likely the problem is that the agent custom field is not configured. I kindly ask you to follow this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-fields/ and set the agent field as 'Copy'. Then try to translate the page again (from WPML > Translation Management) and see if the problem disappears.

Please note that Houzez is an incompatible theme with WPML, which means that you'll probably need to either configure a few things on your own or ask the author's help.

You are right, this is the same issue and we did report this to Houzez team since we posted the fix : https://wpml.org/errata/houzez-translated-agent-is-not-assigned-to-translated-properties/

But we still did not get any response, hence why my colleagues mentioned the change of compatibility,

Remember all the issues you reported and we fixed? none of them got addressed by houzez, and we are not getting responses, so we had to flag it as incompatible as we no longer can take responsibility of a theme that is not collaborating with us.

And you are right the updates changed the code totally, and even the workaround we shared before is no longer valid,

To be honest, we expect houzez to fix it as we have already reported this multiple time, and it doesn't make sense to fix the issue every update they do, it is unrealistic and counter productive.

As of now, you need to manually add the agent when updating translations.

Explaining that the updates they made changed the code completely and we are looking for a permanent fix for you, he was contacted by my colleague Nicolas if he would like a proper follow up.

Hi Ilyes,

That is very problematic as the compatibility of Houzez with WPML is the most important factor for me. (70% of my clients are french and a big part of them don't speak english.

I just opened a ticket with Houzez and copied pasted your message.

I am hoping for a quick resolution.

Ok. I am up to date with Houzez theme and plugins as well as WPML plugins. However, today, there are no longer "Arnaud Homburger" assigned as the agent for my properties in french, which indicates the issue is actually not resolved at the moment. In addition, I tried to edit and assign "Arnaud Homburger" as agent on the french properties directly, to fix the issue temporally (again), which was possible until now, but it's no longer possible.

I have been spending a lot of time with WPML and you to fix this issue that exists since I am a Houzez and WPML customer, and I am hoping for a permanent resolution.

I will inform WPML as well."

What a nightmare honestly.... I am not supposed to go through all of this a customer... Since how long have we been trying to solve this issue...

On top of that, I am not sure what triggered this but for all my properties, the turning circles were showing for the french translations instead of the pencil, so I had to update again all my translations the the pencil shows.

What a waste of time...

I am counting on my website to work in both english and french version now, after all the time spent on it...

I count on your support to help me resolve this situation once for good.

I'm sorry that you are in this position and you are not responsible for this, but I'm being honest when I say that we did not get a reply for two months, hence why we changed the compatibility status.

This is totally helpful that you pushed Waqas for a reply, and I have notified my team for it to check if any replies were made.

I'm afraid there wasn't any other way to do this at this point and I hope this is a one time occurrence, I will get back to you soon with more updates,

Hi Ilyes,

I trust you 100% and thank you for letting me know about the situation. I am no longer going to play this game with Waqas.

I just wish you guys resolve the situation asap, as I am counting on my site to work. I spent thousands of hours working on it since not even a year ago, so I am not willing to trash it like that, especially that it was advertised on both WPML and Houzez as 100% compatible.

Something that works well with Houzez are the negative reviews on Theme Forest, so I may consider that option if Waqas keeps ignoring your requests...

Hoping not to have to do that and get this situation fixed.

At this level, I'm not the one taking care of partnerships, so a team lead from WPML compatibility is checking with Waqas again, I will get back to you the moment I get a confirmation.

Do not worry, I have direct access to conversations and I can help make things clear to both parties.

For the agent assignment issue in particular, I will re-escalate it again seperately so we can get a temporary workaround.

Hey Arnaud, we did receive a re-evaluation request from Waqas, we are now reviewing all the issues we reported since last year to see which are fixed and which are not,
