Problem:
The client is developing a site and after adding a new language using WPML, the translated page redirects to the home page instead of the intended page. Additionally, there is an issue with the WPML plugin not connecting to wpml.org for updates.
Solution:
1. To address the update issue, first try refreshing the installer caches by navigating to Plugins > Add New > Commercial tab and clicking on the 'Check for updates' button. If this does not resolve the issue, consider manually updating WPML by following these steps:
- Download the latest version of WPML from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/
- Deactivate and delete the current WPML plugin from Plugins.
- Upload and activate the latest version downloaded.
2. For the redirection issue, ensure that the page is 100% translated and published. If the problem persists, we may need temporary access to your site to further investigate the issue. Please ensure you have a full backup of your site before providing access.
