Getting started with ACT Translations and WPML

To send content for translation to ACT Translations, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with ACT Translations via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and ACT Translations. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to ACT Translations

First, you need to connect WPML with ACT Translations. You only need an API Token to connect your site with ACT Translations.

Alternatively, you can fill out a short contact form, leaving your name, company, email and the language(s) you want to translate into. ACT will need this information to create the client API token for you.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to ACT Translations, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from ACT Translations

You can select any content you want to be translated on your Translation Board. This can include pages, forms, strings, media and so on. All items sent for translation will appear under Translation Jobs tab.

ACT receives the items you sent for translation and analyzes the files accordingly. They will get in touch if any translatable content is not displayed correctly, files are empty or other issues occur. ACT’ localization team will provide an initial quote to give you an idea of the costs and turnaround time for the whole project.

Receiving completed translations

As soon as you have sent any content for translation, you can follow the translation status on your Translation Board.

You can always opt to receive individual updates from your dedicated localization team. ACT can adapt to your needs, deliver in batches, inform you about ongoing workflows and generally keep you up to date.

Canceling translation jobs

You can decide to cancel translation jobs for any or all of the content you selected which has not been completed yet.

ACT can cancel jobs sent upon request, which will disappear from the Translation Jobs tab. ACT can support you in any specific case; feel free to get in touch.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use ACT Translations to translate the rest of your site.
