Getting started with ESmedo and WPML
To send content for translation to ESmedo, install the following plugins on your website:
- WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
- WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings
Working with ESmedo via WPML
Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and ESmedo. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.
Connecting Your Website to ESmedo
First, you need to connect WPML with ESmedo. Part of this very simple process is to request your ESmedo API token.
The API Token is the identifier that allows you to connect your WordPress website with our translation service. You can request your API Token anytime. ESmedo will never have access to your WordPress or to the configuration of the website.
Sending content for translation
Once your site is connected to ESmedo, you can start sending your content for translation.
Receive a quotation from ESmedo
ESmedo will calculate the word count taking into account the language combination and segment repetitions. You will only pay for segments with new content. Repeated phrases are stored in the translation memory and are reused throughout the translation of your website. ESmedo will send you a detailed quote in with instructions on what you need to do to confirm it.
Receiving completed translations
As soon as our professional native translators finish the translation, your site is ready to receive completed translations. You will be able to review these and decide if you want to make any changes. When all the texts are to your liking, you can publish them on the website yourself. Optionally, you can ask them to send you the translations in xliff format or in a double-column Word file so that you can review them more comfortably. All translation memories and terminology databases created will be your property. Request them without obligation.
Canceling translation jobs
Before confirming your quote you will always have the option to cancel all or part of the requested jobs. Please note that once you have confirmed the quote and paid the agreed amount, you will not be able to cancel any jobs, as our translators start working as soon as we receive your confirmation.

Translating the Rest of Your Site
Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use ESmedo to translate the rest of your site.
