Background of the issue:
I am using WPML with the default language set to German and a secondary language of English. The locale is currently set to en_GB, and I have the Automatic Translation Editor enabled with DeepL as the translation engine. I am trying to configure WPML so that automatic translations use British English (en_GB) instead of American English (en_US).
Symptoms:
I need clarification on whether automatic EN-GB output is possible or if the system defaults to EN-US for automatic translation.
Questions:
How can we configure WPML + ATE to use British English (en_GB) for automatic translations instead of American English (en_US)?
Do we need to convert our current US English language to British?
Should we add English (UK) as a new language and migrate existing translations?
Is automatic translation into en-GB currently supported in WPML?
Languages: English (English )Spanish (Español )German (Deutsch )

Hello,
Such an option is sadly not yet available in WPML. There is only one language option for "English", which by default will use American English, as all translation engines are based on this language version.
This said, this is not a WPML limitation; it is more a limitation of translation engines. Most major automatic translation engines (Google Translate, DeepL, Microsoft Translator, Amazon Translate, etc.) only support English (generic), which is effectively American English (en‑US). They do not yet provide a distinct option for British English (en‑GB) as a target language.
