Cannot translate a page (getting error WPML tried to translate this page three times and failed.), also pages do not show as translated but they are.
I can see them in WPML>Translations.
In Error log i can see : ATE Server Communication Forbidden .

Tried to: Un-register and Re-register the key.Disabling themes/plugins(with the Health plugins>Troubleshoot). Issue Persists.

Hi there.

This issue might be happening due to a recent update. Sorry for that.

Can you please let me know if you had the chance to try the steps mentioned at the URL below?

If that doesn't work, please also try this:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/ate-server-communication-forbidden-5/#post-11295981

or this:
https://wpml.org/errata/wpml-triggers-a-migration-notification-banner-even-when-the-site-hasnt-been-migrated/

If none of those will work, we have another thing that you can try.

One user reported that they fixed the issue with the following steps:

- Go to WPML > Translation Management
- Click on "Translators"
- Check if your user is defined as a translator. If not, please configure it again.

Please let me know how that goes and if you are now able to translate pages.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi there and thank you for the update.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box.

The private box looks like this: hidden link

I will be waiting for your response.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi there.

Now, the Automatic Translation Editor opens fine again.

Sorry for the issue.

You will have to register WPML again from here (hidden link) - copy the key from here (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) and paste it inside your site after you click "register WPML".

Hello,
There is still something wrong.
If i go to Pages the translated pages still show the "+" sign instead of the pencil and if I press that it still doesnt open the page in the Translation editor.
If i go to WPML>Translations I can see that the pages are translated.

Update: I registered again, signed-out and sign in and now when i press the + i can see the translation manager except on home page.

Also, when for example, I press the "+" then complete and save the translatio on e.g. Contact page the page doesnt appear in the langiage tab, neither a "pencil" replaces the "+". It's like nothing happened.

Hi there and welcome back.

1. In regards to the homepage, it is selected here (hidden link) that you don't want to use the Translation Editor (I'm also attaching a screenshot). That's why when you click the + for the homepage, it will open the normal WordPress editor.

Whenever that's turned to OFF, you will use the manual translation mode:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

2. In regards to the other page that you mentioned (Contact), I was able to simply click +, made a small edit, saved, and the translation saved correctly and I can see the "pencil edit" icon (attaching screenshot)
