Background of the issue:
We are using WPML on an Altis environment and have noticed that there is a restriction from Altis that prevents us from having write permission at the root level. As a result, WPML String translation cannot write to the .mo file.
Symptoms:
WPML String translation cannot write to the .mo file due to lack of write permission at the root level in the Altis environment.
Questions:
Is there a way for us to set the language path to either the plugin folder or theme folder?
If we can't get the write permission to work, is there an option for us to write the translation to the database instead?
