My client has stopped receiving updates for their website:
hidden link

When I go to the plugins page there is a banner that says "You are using an unregistered version of WPML and are not receiving compatibility and security updates" and a button to register.
This site has been working and was registered fine until recently.
If I click "Register" it opens the wmpl site and tells me that the website address has already been registered. If I copy the registration key from WPML and add it to the website it says "Invalid site key for the current site.".

I have deleted the website address from WPML and repeated the process and get the same result.
I have also tried adding the website address manually from within WPML (using the site address from wordpress --> Settings --> General and copying the site address, as indicated in one of your forum help threads).

None of the above work and the site remains unregistered and in need of updating to the latest plugin version.

Can you please advise.

Many Thanks

Hi there.

Indeed, I can see that the site (hidden link) is currently not registered with WPML.

Can you please let me know if from here (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) you created a key exactly for this domain:

hidden link

Please do not remove the "https" from the front or any other part, it has to be exactly as I wrote it.

After the key is generated, you have to go to Plugins > Add new > Commercial > and register WPML with the newly generated key.

Please let me know how that goes.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi,

thank you for getting back to me.

I can confirm that the address of the site from "wordpress --> Settings --> General" is hidden link and is the same in the account of WPML.

Many thanks

Hi there and thank you for the update.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box.

The private box looks like this: hidden link

I will be waiting for your response.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

My issue is resolved now. Thank you! I did nothing, but clone the site into staging and then activate the staging license for the development site. this was ready to allow WPML access to a copy of the site, for investigation of the issue. The development site activated fine, so I retried the live site and this then activated. I can only assume that there was an issue at WPML licensing side and this has been resolved?
