Sometimes, you need to use different designs when translating key content such as the homepage or landing pages. WPML allows you to do this by using the Plus icons.

How to Get Different Designs for Different Translations

If you’re a WPML Multilingual CMS or Agency account user, you would use Translation Management to translate your content. However, this won’t work if you need your translations to look different than the default language. Instead, you need to disable the WPML’s translation editor and use the WordPress editor or the page builder of your choice.

In our example, we use the default WordPress Gutenberg editor. The steps are the same for all compatible page builders such as Elementor, Divi, or Avada.

  1. Go to the Language section in the sidebar and click to switch to the WordPress Editor.

  1. In the pop-up dialog that appears, select This page and click Apply.

  1. To translate, click the Plus icon next to the desired language.

  1. You’ll see an empty new page in the editor. Type in the text and create the design you want for this language.
  2. Once you’re done, click Publish.
