Getting started with Diction AG and WPML

To send content for translation to Diction, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with Diction AG via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and Diction. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to Diction

First, you need to connect WPML with Diction. Part of this very simple process is to request your Diction API token.

You can directly get in touch with Diction by calling on +41 81 750 53 33 or by sending an e-mail to info@diction.ch. Diction will provide you with a WPML API token as well as an account for its customer portal at kundenportal.diction.ch.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to Diction, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from Diction

Translations are automatically started when submitted to the Diction WPML service. If you would like to review or amend your order, log in to kundenportal.diction.ch using the credentials provided by Diction. Your order will be listed in the “Orders” section, and a cost estimate will also be provided.

Receiving completed translations

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

Completed translations will be reported back to WPML and are available for synchronization and import directly in the WPML plug-in. You can also review complete translations at kundenportal.diction.ch.

Canceling translation jobs

Jobs cannot be canceled through the WPML plug-in. To cancel a job, please log in to your account at kundenportal.diction.ch and navigate to the “Orders” section. From there, you can click the order in question, which will open a pop-up window. Click cancel to cancel the order.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use Diction to translate the rest of your site.
