Getting started with Language Insight and WPML
To send content for translation to Language Insight, install the following plugins on your website:
- WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
- WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings
Working with Language Insight via WPML
Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and Language Insight. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.
Connecting Your Website to Language Insight
First, you need to connect WPML with Language Insight. Part of this very simple process is to request your Language Insight API token.
Requesting a token is really easy and you can do it at any time. Simply visit Language Insight’s WPML page and fill out the Token form. A member of Language Insight’s team will contact you by email as soon as possible with your unique token which you can copy and paste into WPML.
Sending content for translation
Once your site is connected to Language Insight, you can start sending your content for translation.
Receive a quotation from Language Insight
Language Insight’s dedicated WPML team will look at all the pages you’ve sent, review the content and prepare your quotation. If you have any additional information that you want to share, such as a deadline or you have sent something through by mistake, simply send them an email to email@example.com and let them know.
Your quotation will be sent to you by email and will include information about Language Insight’s website translation services. Since NDAs and confidentiality agreements are often required when companies start working together, Language Insight is open and ready to sign.
If you want to go ahead, just let them know by email and they will get started. They will confirm the expected delivery date with you as soon as their project management team have assigned the respective linguists to your project.
Receiving completed translations
Translations will be returned to you securely through WPML. Once Language Insight has translated the files, your dedicated project manager will send you an email to let you know that your files are ready.
Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.
Canceling translation jobs
At Language Insight they know that plans can change and you might need to put your project on hold. Don’t worry if you’re not ready to work on the project yet. You only need to send an email to your dedicated project manager and let them know if you want to pause the translations or cancel completely.
Please, note that if translations have already begun, you may be invoiced for the work already completed in line with Language Insight’s terms and conditions, which will be available to you when you receive your quotation. If the work hasn’t started yet, or you’re not ready to go ahead, then there won’t be any charge.

Translating the Rest of Your Site
Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use Language Insight to translate the rest of your site.
