Getting started with STAR Translation and WPML

To send content for translation to STAR Translation, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with STAR Translation via WPML

Connecting Your Website to STAR Translation

First, you need to connect WPML with STAR Translation. Part of this very simple process is to request your STAR API token.

To get your token simply fill out the Token Request form.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to STAR Translation, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from STAR Translation

From the translation manager – simply send the files you need to translate to STAR. Their team will prepare a quote for you and email this to you for approval. If you need assistance, they can help you through the setup of your first project on the phone or call via zoom/teams or your preferred method. STAR can even manage your site for you if you’d prefer to work that way.

Receiving completed translations

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

There are two methods for processing completed translations with WPML. You can have them automatically uploaded to your site in the background or you can do it manually.  STAR can help you decide which is best for your site and processes. The easiest method is automated. STAR will simply upload the pages in the background and then invoice you by email. There is no interaction required.

Canceling translation jobs

If you need to cancel a project you should email STAR Translation and let them know. They will cancel the project for you.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use STAR Translation to translate the rest of your site
