We’ve recently responded to exploit reports in WPML by releasing a major security update. Fortunately, our update came before these exploits became public and most webmasters have succeeded updated WPML on their sites. This update is available for clients with valid accounts. We’ve noticed that there is a group of expired accounts which is running older versions of WPML, which need to be secured too. This week, we are running a special discount, which allows people with expired accounts to upgrade and receive these updates ‘at cost’.

Updating from very old versions of plugins can be a pain. We know and appreciate this. However, we’re certain that getting hacked can cause an even bigger headache. We are offering everyone who previously bought from us and has an expired account, to upgrade their accounts and receive security updates, at a 50% discount. Normally we don’t run sales, promotions, black Friday deals, etc. We believe in one fair price for everyone, always. However, in this special situation, we want to make sure that everyone who ever bought from us has an affordable access to security updates.

To facilitate this major upgrade, the entire WPML team will be on support work. This includes our support team, developers and theme compatibility. We’ll hold off with planned development for a few days, to make sure that every client who needs assistance with this update receives it in a timely manner.

Of course, we’re not too happy to be in the center of this ‘panic mode’, but this is life. You do your very best always, but sometimes there are glitches. Our responsibility to our clients and to the entire WordPress ecosystem is to respond to security issues immediately and make sure that clients are always protected.

We’re sending email reminders to all clients with expired accounts. These emails include exact instructions on how to upgrade with the discount and get their sites updated. Please, be sure to create full backup of your sites before any updates. Also, remember to update not only WPML but WordPress, your theme and any plugins that are outdated.
