Would be nice if the Media Translation interface let us select media that’s already in the Media Library. It currently only allows uploading of new images.
Would also be nice to be able to change the original language for an item in case it was accidentally uploaded to the wrong language or mis-associated during the 2.3.0 update process.
Hello and thank you for your feedback.
I am not sure if I understand about the first thing that you shared here — all images that are listed in the media translation interface are currently present in the media library.
Perhaps you should open a new ticket in our forum and share in more detail about this with us?
The feature for changing the original language is a very good suggestion. I will bring it to the attention of our developers.
For now — if you have such issue — I guess you can edit the «original» image and replace the data with the proper language data, and then use the media translation interface to change the translation to the proper one.
Hi George,
I’m referring to associating images via WPML > Media Translation. The way it’s setup is fine for new images that get added but for sites that have already been uploading images with different translations for a while it makes it so those images cannot be “linked” to one another because the interface only allows you to upload new images for translations, rather than associating existing images with each other for specific languages.
Essentially, it would be nice if the interface shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=30&v=8kvqMTy3r2g allowed us to select images that were already in the Media Library.
I get it now! Thank you for the clarification.
As far as I know, selecting already uploaded images and improvements on the way how a translated image will be handled is something that we are going to implement in the future versions.
Hi, before we had the chance to bulk duplicate attachment pages already uploaded to translate title and description. What about now?
There is no need for bulk duplicating anymore. You can translate title and description in WPML -> Media Translation.

Hi, Georgios! It would be best to open a ticket for this in our Support Forum and let our supporters take a look at what’s going on there. But for example, I notice you commented here on a changelog post of WPML Media Translation 2.3.0 from 2018 while the recent version is 2.7.0 from October 2021.
Hello,
I have the version 2.7.0 of media translation. And if you cannot help me please tell me step by step where i should ask my question.
