Fixes for Links and URLs

  • Fixed the management of WooCommerce endpoints to cover all possible scenarios.
  • Added a translation system for links embedded in the product category description.
  • Fixed link handling when “Product Permalinks” is set to “Shop base with category” and products are displayed as
    translated.

Improvements Ready for WPML 4.9

As soon as WPML 4.9 is released and the site is updated to it, the following two improvements will become effective:

  • Better translation of shop-related links.
  • Better support for RLT languages — especially the formatting of WooCommerce emails.

Translation

  • Added support for translating product attribute values that do not contain words.
  • Product attributes added via REST API can now be configured from the WPML > Taxonomy translation screen.
  • Translated products now support GTIN, UPC, EAN and ISBN codes for product identification.
  • Newly created Product Attributes will now have the default language set, instead of defaulting to English. This ensures they are correctly presented to customers in different languages.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Product Categories shortcode from working correctly for the second language when the Parent attribute is set.

Multi-Currency

  • Fixed an issue when synchronizing variation prizes to translations when the price is zero.
  • Improved compatibility by applying a new filter that’s triggered when updating the Product variations price.
  • Improved the Currency Switcher visibility setting for Variable Products.

Compatibility

  • WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping – Fixed a PHP Fatal Error and restored the correct translation of order items.

Usability and User Interface

  • Introduced a new default value for new store installations – now, images set in product categories will be copied across
    translations.
  • Shortened the plugin name from “WPML Multilingual and Multicurrency for WooCommerce” to “WCML” in the main admin menu in WordPress.
  • Improved the message with instructions for quickly editing a translated product.

Other Improvements

  • Marked the code elements that will be changed in the next WCML 5.6 release as deprecated.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred when accessing orders using the WooCommerce app for Android if site is using PHP 8.1+.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred when partially translating ACF fields assigned to WooCommerce products using the Classic Translation Editor.
  • Improved compatibility with PHP8.3+.
