WCML 5.5.3 focuses on how links work across languages, from category and account pages to Shop page links. It also brings various usability improvements.

Links in the Right Language

WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce 5.5.3 improves how links work throughout multilingual WooCommerce stores. Together, these changes make it easier for customers to move around your store in their own language:

  • Links in product category descriptions

When category descriptions include internal links (to other categories, pages, or posts), those links now automatically open in the customer’s language.

  • WooCommerce endpoint links

Before, translated account endpoints could return 404 errors on sites where the default language wasn’t English.

For example: with Spanish as your default language, setting the endpoint to pedidos and translating it to orders would break the English /my-account/orders/ page.

WooCommerce endpoint translations now open normally in every language, so customers can access their account pages without errors.

  • Links to the Shop page (coming with WPML 4.9)

This improvement will take effect once you update to WPML 4.9, which will be released in the coming weeks.
When visitors click a Shop page link in posts or product descriptions, it will automatically open in the language they’re browsing in.

Fixes for Product Attribute Translations

This release fixes an issue that caused some product translation jobs to get stuck.

If product attribute values used symbols or other non-word characters such as “+”, “”, or “&”, the translation job for the product could not be completed.

Products with these kinds of attributes are now sent for translation correctly, so you can translate your content without interruptions.

Other Updates In This WCML Version

This release also includes smaller updates that improve day-to-day usability:

Attributes added via REST now translate correctly

If you manage products using the REST API, new attributes are now detected and translatable just like those added through the admin interface.

Fixed GTIN, UPC, EAN, and ISBN errors

Updating translated products that include these codes no longer triggers validation or duplication errors.

Attribute labels and slugs register in the correct language

When you create product attributes in a default language other than English, their labels and slugs are now correctly registered in that language.

Simpler plugin name in your admin menu

The menu label now simply appears as WCML instead of WPML Multilingual and Multicurrency for WooCommerce. This shorter name makes your WordPress admin cleaner and easier to navigate.
