Symptoms: The categories are being created as new categories instead of translating the existing ones. The image does not appear, and the parent-child link between categories is missing. also when I go to the other language and try to move between my translated pages, it switch back to the native language till I go back to the filter and choose the other language. Questions: Why are the categories being created as new instead of translating the existing ones? Why is the image not appearing for the translated categories? Why is the parent-child link between categories missing after translation?

Background of the issue:
I am currently translating my website's categories using WPML's taxonomy translation feature. I was advised to do this by support.

Symptoms:
The categories are being created as new categories instead of translating the existing ones. The image does not appear, and the parent-child link between categories is missing. also when I go to the other language and try to move between my translated pages, it switch back to the native language till I go back to the filter and choose the other language.

Why are the categories being created as new instead of translating the existing ones?
Why is the image not appearing for the translated categories?
Why is the parent-child link between categories missing after translation?
